Nice chopper!   That thing looks like it could take down a small tree pretty quick.

Interesting.

Tantos and modified tantos are my favorite shaped knives for working.  They seem to take abuse better than other blade shapes (except sheepsfoot).

They're harder to sharpen too.

Nice job.  I've never had or used a tanto blade so any comments in that regard would be speculative.

pretty nice to see that there's a provision for a lanyard as well as a generous choil. Just looking at it, seems pretty forward heavy and will do well for a chopper. Single sided grind? I just couldn't tell with the picture. looks real good!

Sorry for the late answer.
It depens on what you use it for. The Military guys, like it often. Becouse it holds up better.
The can use it more as a tool. If you know what i mean.  :D

I find that tanto points have no use.

tanto points are pretty specialized in nature because they're pretty much more common for tactical applications. I know a lot of electricians over here that prefer to use tanto blades over the regular drop pointed knives.

I have tried a few of these and tantos can be ground in a way where the blades can be given very strong points for piercing through car doors or cutting through protective clothing. So it is really going to depend on what you intend to use it for. It's not for everyone some might not think too highly of it and some will put their lives on the line in the great middle eastern deserts armed with a tactical tanto mounted on their molle vests
