Thoughts on the ALOX Cadet?
on: May 11, 2008, 09:24:20 PM
I have been looking into getting an ALOX Cadet and I was just wondering how many people had them and what the general thoughts on it were?  Does anyone find it too thin to use?  Does it still have that solid ALOX feel to it?

Thanks
I'm back!!

Have you?  :P  Actually it was your one that got me interested in the first place.  Do you not find it a tad thin though?

Nah not really, Yes it's thin but not massively so :)

I do like the way you can drop it in a pocket and forget about it :), very few of my knives allow me to do that.

You need bigger pockets! :D It does look a fairly nice small knife though.

I do the exact same thing, I can't stand knives running amuck in my pockets. I suspend mine by chain and belt clip.

Now back to the subject at hand. I like the Cadet, I carry the Pioneer but would have no problem carrying the Cadet in my Sunday suit.

The Cadet's a nifty little bugger.  It's one of those types where you might forget you have it in your pocket.

The Cadet is an awesome "dress wear" knife.  It's the thinnest knife I would carry, but I don't find it too thin.

I have thought long and hard on the ALOX Cadet, and I have come to the conclusion that you should get one... in fact, everyone should have at least one! :P

You know you want one!  of each color.... :pok:

Intelligent people buy green, so that's no good to me!  :D

I just like the red and black as they are your more traditional SAK colours.

Can't argue with that logic, one of the reason's I edc a red Farmer is because it's instantly recognised as a 'one of the swiss army things' :)

My favorite color is the green by far.  None of them look as classy as the ribbed one though!

Ribbed and copper shown below.

I agree, and think the ribbed ones look the best .  Can't see me managing to get hold of one of them anytime soon for a decent price though.

Warning this post contains SAK ignorance

When were the ribbed ones made? What is so special about them?

End of ignorance :)

As far as the 'ribbed' vs 'waffle' pattern, I think of the ribbed as to a pin striped suit where the waffle pattern is more like a plaid shirt.   :D

I was hoping you could tell the difference in the scale texture in the pic, but maybe not.

As you are struggling to take all these pics Terry, I would be more than happy for you to send the Cadet here for me to photograph.  :D
