The stayglow is very bright and I like the texture too.  Also, it has the T&T instead of the pen, which I prefer.

I love my Minichamp! I've carried it pretty much every day since I got it. The cuticle pusher works great for larger flat head screws. I usually team it up with a traditional slipjoint or an Alox SAK like today.

Better late than never, I guess.

I had one, didn't care for it. It was an old one, didn't have the orange peeler.

The extra tools didn't justify the extra thickness for me. I prefer the Rambler or Manager.

I can see why folks like them though.

I think they need to re-work it a little, to make it perfect:

  • Remove the cuticle pusher
  • Put the screwdriver tip back on the nail file, and mark the ruler on the reverse side of it
  • Drop the wharncliffe blade
^ I think that's enough to make it one layer thinner, and thus, more popular.

Either that, or put a mini awl and micro screwdriver in the place of those two implements, ala Wenger Pocket Toolchest.

Thoughts?

Can't say I agree with much of that. The thickness has never been an impediment to my use of the MC personally, so I wouldn't benefit from dropping a layer. I actually don't like the screwdriver tip on the nail file, because I find the shape uncomfortable and inadequate for reaching many spots under my nails. I also use the cuticle pusher very frequently, though not for its intended purpose. However, I wouldn't mind losing the driver + ruler for a sturdy fine screwdriver. That's the one thing I like about the Micra over the Minichamp; the Micra has a pretty nice tiny driver.

I had no idea of the number of different scales available on the Minichamps.  I love mine, and it has become my EDC....I feel lost without it!

The MiniChamp is thicker than Manager for 2mm. In this added 2mm you get 4 or 4 1/2 additional tools :D

The Cuticle pusher is, in fact, a great no-sharp-edge tool, great small pry bar, large-small screwdriver, coke spoon :P etc.
As already said, there are some tasks that can not be accomplished using the small SD tip, where cuticle pusher works great, ad example:

 :o

 >:D

The difference:

 ;)
The cut & pick tool (sometimes referred to as an orange peeler) it's also a great cutting tool and it is a great scraper tool. But if one use the blade for scraping instead, then will for sure need a secondary (emergency) blade :pok: :D
The ruler, of course, it's not a deal breaker, but I've used it several times, could came in handy, not to mention nail file "phillips SD" tip.

To make it short: MiniChamp rules!

They do rock indeed, not the least because they pack so many tools in such a small package that they are mostly underestimated; the Minichamp could very well be the MOST refined and complete and highly civilized urban tool.

I left mine behind today and took my Sportsman.....I felt like I left a good friend at home!  I really have grown to love mine.  It's such a handy knife and 9 times out of 10, more than I need for my daily tasks.

I like everything about it and usually carry it together with a Victorinox Explorer and a Leatherman Style PS. Most of the time the Minichamp is the only tool I use. But sometimes I miss a bigger blade, or the corkscrew, or a sturdier Phillips screwdriver. What made stay with the Minichamp, besides its wide array of tools, is the fact that it was more socially friendly. People won't freak out so frequently like when I was using the Explorer as the main tool. I now I got a more versatile small size Phillips screwdriver, which is a nice bonus. ;-)

Picked this up as a Christmas trinket of sorts.  Brought it to its paces by assembling a Bandai kit.  Scissors were a little stinging on the fingers after prolonged use but the blades didn't mind cutting through plastic.  Still have to find use for the other tools which were added from a Manager.

that makes me wonder, if R2-D2 was the champ, is BB-8 the minichamp?

I got this a few weeks ago for my Bday and it now replaces my Midnite Manager as my EDC. The white light gets used the most. Love the MiniChamp!!

I've got a standard red minichamp. Stays on my keyring and it's used twice as much as my cybertool (34) or my spartan lite (edc, or used to be til this little guy came along).

I was wondering, has anyone modded a 58mm sak to fit a 91mm sak's small blade? On the minichamp in particular I would get rid of both blades to accomodate this, and of course reshuffle the remaining tools to properly make room. Saw the post a few pages up of someone modding a MC to fit the awl, looks nifty!

edit: in an effort to fit a 91mm small blade, i would be perfectly willing to do without the nailfile. why they didnt just grind the file into the reverse side of the ruler i will never know. if they had, they could have moved the main knife to the other side and made it one layer thinner.

That sure would make a terrific blade TJ....I don't see why it couldn't be done with all the Spyderco-style blades being used on Mini's.  Ronald, that's a terrific Picture....love that keychain!!
