Looks nice. :tu: Hope the LionSteel survived the digging exercise unchipped. :o

The Lionsteel is approved for digging in rock soil. It got a bit dirty, but no damage what-so-ever.
The paper cut test before I started stropping the 3 knives kinda surprised me as the Lionsteel was the worst of the 3. But I used it quite a lot, and did not sharpen it yet, as the steel is advertised to have great edge retention. However, it was never sharpened for 3 months, and I did sharpen the Laguiole last week, and the Farmer over a month ago. I prefer to keep on stropping from now on, until a sharpening session is really needed. I need to get me some polishing paste now.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Flat black is always a good colour. I used to paint my car and bikes the same shade, too :-)

Not excatly the same ones, but the same principle:

Some precise drilling required, but cheap bead as result.

Way less then the overpriced 2010 LE Pioneers are going on the bay. Also, this one is actually worth the money. All tools are Damascus.

Had it in my pocket all day today (in a sheath) but I did not use it besides cut some paper to check the edge. It needs a soapy bath before I will peel an apple with it, which I will do.  :D

Gorgeous piece my friend, and I agree that it's certainly a better investment than the damascus Pioneer... You have a one of a kind SAK and that is priceless :)

Congrats on this very 8) and :vader: addition. :tu:

It's one of a find for sure. (and the 248 isn't the number of all the full damascus pioneers made so far, but of all the Perret knives he's done, right? :D )

http://www.andre-perret.ch/home/pictures/  (the last one he made)

Thanks guys, exactly my reasoning for having it commissioned. Over a grand for the 2010 LE seemed madness. (lucky for me I found a damaged one for half the price since then)
And indeed, the 248 refers to Mr Perret's knife count. This is the first and (for now) the only black Pioneer he made.  :)

André just informed me the Damascus he is using is Damasteel product. That's the same manufacturer as the official Victorinox Damascus blades, and it is a stainless steel version of Damascus. Nice to know. :D
