Wenger United Woods Collection
on: October 15, 2013, 08:31:43 PM
There's been some talk and speculation about this set in the Any Love for Wenger thread, but I thought it was cool enough that it deserved its own thread. I just noticed on the Wenger NA website that information for the set is now on the front page, http://www.wengerna.com/wenger-united-woods-limited-edition. There's no pricing information there, but it does say they should be delivered to retailers in November (as had been previously stated by other members). The last guess I saw said that the price could be about 80 Euro per knife, or about $110 US. That's awful expensive for me, but I thought it'd be cool if people wanted to post here when/where they start seeing these become available. I imagine that as beautiful as these are, and with only 2013 sets produced, they won't last long!

We had at least 3 threads on these in the last month. :D

They are available for preorder at some places and the price I see is € 549 so that would be €91,50 par SAK. Tim/FelineVet said in one of the other threads that he's have a few of them for sale but I'm not sure if you have to preorder it from first.

BTW. Can you replace the picture in your OP with a smaller one and maybe leave this one as a link for all the ones who wish to see it in more detail? It's a HUGE picture and some people browse this forum on mobile devices exclusively so that may take quite a bit for them to load. ;)

Oh jeez, I'm sorry then. I need to pay more attention! :twak: In my defense, most of last month I spent on my honeymoon. :)

Out of curiosity, where have you seen pre-orders for these? Anyplace that would ship to the US? Funds permitting, I'd rather support Tim (and I bet he'll be cheaper too) but it's still nice to know.
May it be as the Pattern has chosen.

Very good defence. :D Hope you had a great time. :2tu: And congrats to you and your significant other.

The price I quoted was from a german knife shop. The site info only lists EU countries for shipping.

Here is an addition site (french) listing the set
 http://www.le-couteau-suisse.com/exclusivites-wenger/coffret-united-woods-wenger-edition-limitee-p-1037.html
I wouldn't be too worried about this set being difficult to buy.
The Heritage was made even in smaller numbers, and it had been available for years.
I may be wrong, however.

I'm pretty desperate to try and secure one of these. I've already sent Tim an email asking if they are yet available to reserve.

However, get this...apparently Wenger will not be supplying Wenger UK with any!!
Considering that the UK has been a part of Wenger's customer base previously it seems downright arrogant that they should now decide to snub Wenger UK stockists. Furthermore, given that victorinox owns Wenger, I'm assuming they had a say in this decision too.

To say I'm speechless, is an understatement in the least :However, Wenger/Victorinox' s idea to put this limited set on Facebook is frankly very clever in the sense that they have gained a worldwide audience (Read - advertisement!!) instantly but snubbed all those loyal customers that purchased Wenger items previously.

My own view on Wenger/Victorinox is now distorted to say the least. Should I not get one of these sets because wenger snubbed UK stockists I shall be very bitter indeed.

I'll try and let my anger subside before I sum up my real feelings on this whole s senario.
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

I have put in my request but due to very limited production I may or may not get my order filled for some. I should hear in November. If I am scheduled to get any I will be posting for pre-orders right away. Please don't bother to contact me yet since I can't make any comments till I know something, thanks.

Wenger's going out of business!
Why doesn't the set have a knife for South America or Antarctica?

South America I understand your questioning on, but I'm not sure how Antarctica would work.

South America is part of America, and no forest in Antartica, just ice and snow.

There's tons of wood in Antarctica. Several whiskey crates left there by Shackleton for starters...
