Well, it's really not a full-sized MT, but I really like my Switchplier   10/10 on just the fiddle-factor of this thing  :D ::)

Sorry mate. :D  Honestly I'd give the PPP a miss, especially if you think you'll be using the drivers a lot.  I honestly did try and like mine but it just didn't click with me.

Agreed!  :salute: Great pliers, shame about everything else  :(

I think the PPP is something that you should get at a later point when you want a stripped down, back up MT to a more reliable primary tool. If you're concerned about the drivers, SOG won't offer anything that will exceed the performance of those on a Swisstool or a Leatherman. I love Gerbers for life, but I had to admit that their drivers are a bit on the soft side to to either the heat treat or the material used for components themselves. I will still suggest the Powerlock if you don't mind carrying a heavy chunk of metal in your pocket. There have been issues of broken philips drivers and broken plier jaws. I'm glad to report that I've had the good fortune of not having been through the same problems with my powerlock.
Cheers,
Gabriel

... but to add, the new China SOG, are not garbage just because they are made in China  :D

The pliers on the SOGs are impressive - the compound leverage works well.
All compound leverage models are good, in that department.
The paratool has no compound leverage but it has the cool flip out feature.

None of the drivers of a SOG have impressed me.

I do like the powerduo idea, and the blade and pliers are good enough (though the pliers gears are less solid than the old ones). Additionally it looks good, but check it before buying.
Short answer, buy a SOG for the pliers, not the drivers.
The jaws of the PL cannot handle the pressure of the compound leverage. This is why I sheered off a set of jaws while performing some minor tasks with my PL. This should not happen. I sold all my Sog MT's after that and haven't owned any since. For the record, I like the classic ParaTool.
I have seen every make and model that have had one of there tools jaws break.  Hell I have broke Craftsmans sockets, kobalt ratchet and tons of other major tool lines. Does not mean all of there tools is garbage.
I just might think you might have just got a bad one.

I don't mind the drivers and openers on my SOG. I know some people have had issues with the Philips breaking, and some people don't like the can opener or awl... but everything is functional. The user just needs to be aware of the performance envelope of the tool and stay within it or risk damaging the tool. Luckily, if one gets into a broken tool situation, SOG backs up their tools and will fix or replace failures. They also sell replacement implements.
