Victorinox Knife Assembling Set
on: October 19, 2013, 01:11:00 PM
I came across this assembling set for a Victorinox Spartan on eBay:

If I understand correctly those were/are available in Victorinox stores in London, Düsseldorf, Cologne etc., and the idea is that you can use the kit to assemble your own Spartan (using the SAK machine we've seen here before).
This may also be a nice item for collectors. I know I would like one but not for the Buy It Now price ($200 :ahhh ).
You should seriously visit vicfan.com. All the hoopy froods are doing it.

Definitely a cool package to have in your collection, but yes, $200 seems a bit too much for a box and some foam. Now if it came with the SAK assembly device used for these, then I might reconsider. :D

So you're basically paying $200 for a Spartan.

I'm in the wrong business. What I need to be doing is buying Spartans and disassembling them and selling the parts laid out neatly on a piece of cardboard. I'll be RICH!  :ahhh

He does.
I have been there to buy some mini-screwdrivers and have a look and send in my Swisstool and Spirit.
It was their 2nd day and they were not completely settled in.
They have a machine where you can build your own (engraved if you want) Spartan, but I hev not seen those kits.
The Guy talking to me knew a bit about SAKs and was a nice fellow - He was a bit  when a Customer talked to me about Aloxes, but he found it funny and I fared well in his opinion.

I´ll be back there after my Vacation to collect my Tools and have another close look around.

Those kits are available in all brand stores, afaik.

I was told it's kind of a coupon for the 'assemble your own spartan' thing.
It's very good as a gift! The receiver can then go to the store and assemble it for free.

OR

You can go to the store after getting it as a gift, get a refund, buy an already assembled Spartan and keep the rest of the money...

I think this is what everyone does, there's only 5 or 6 of these kits worldwide, they keep getting reselled and refunded...

I could see one (or more) of us buying one of these kits, adding a bunch of parts in to the foam slots and then going to the Victorinox store to assemble the knife.

"Why, yes, this was how I bought it. A 'make your own' Swiss Champ kit!"  :climber:

Spotted this on the Forum, and just had to have one, but could not get to a Victorinox store.
Phoned the London store, they sent me one in under a week, just before Christmas, cost £46 including shipping.
Have arranged to have it professionally mounted and framed.
I had been considering for some time, stripping down a Spartan for mounting and display, and this saved me the trouble, and, of course, every part is new and undamaged.

Yes! IMO (not really opinion) it's the only SAK that's a complete waste of money.
1 Spartan for the price of more than 10 new ones, and if you actually assemble then its worth... the value of a used Spartan. Whomp Whomp!

I love me some Victorinox but I don't know how/why they think this set is a value.
Well I do... In the profit margin.
Theirs a sucker born every minute.

Where are you located?  I'm guessing you're not that far away from them.
