Greetings From Eastern Canada!!
on: October 21, 2013, 08:04:02 PM
Hello All!

New to the site and I am VERY excited to be here.  I have been lurking for a little while and after receiving LOTS of suggestions for various items, I figured it was time I joined!

I have always loved tools and EDC items, even before I knew what it was and that there was a community and others who felt the same.

My first "tool" was a "survival knife" that my father purchased for me around the same time that the First Blood came out.  It might have even been marketed as a "Rambo" knife.  Anyway, it had about a 6-inch blade (serrated at the base) and it had a compass at the top and a place inside that held matches, fishing hooks and lines, etc.  The knife wouldn't cut bread, but I took it with me whenever me and my friends went exploring in the woods.

My Father eventually bought me a Leatherman Wave around 2001 (early 2000s) and I was hooked.  This was my first multi-tool and my first passage into the EDC world (without evening knowing it).  This was back before the internet really took off, but I used to re-visit the Leather product page and read the testimonials about people using their Leatherman in various places.

Anyway, here I am.  My multi tool and EDC carry has slowly grown over the past couple of years, but I am a pure novice.  I am here to read the posts, view the pictures and constantly get new ideas for new tools and items for me and my father (my bank thanks you...).

So here I am!  Willing to learn!

Welcome to the forum. :hatsoff:

Very nice intro.

Those Rambo knives were very popular back then world wide. :D I think we have a few threads on them here. >:D

Browse around, get acquainted with the locals. :) Don't be afraid to ask questions. Even if it was asked a number of times before, our members are very friendly and will gladly answer any questions you might have or give you links to threads that discuss that topic. :salute:

Glad to have you with us and hope you stay for a while. :2tu:

Thanks guys!

I am honestly excited to be here.  Of course, I am nervous, because everything I read a thread, I want to purchase something!  I have a running wishlist and I will eventually pick away at it.

I do have a lot of questions, so I might end up posting some.  Glad to hear that the members here are open to questions (and might be lenient to those that may have been posted before....)

I am a little further East than NS...I am based in Newfoundland!!

Owshegettinonb'ys?  What part are ya from?  I've never visited, but really want to go someday!

Oh yes, you will start with few here, and end with many!  We all like to spend others money here, we're sick like that!  :D

Make sure to ask away.  Repeat questions, and throwing topics off course here are perfectly OK.

That problem never goes away!

The only stupid questions here are,in no particular order....
1) Should I buy this?
2) Do I need another Farmer?
3) Is Kirk to blame?
There is no beginning,or ending, and for this we are thankful, cos now is hard enough to understand!

welcome mate
Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob

Quick question - where would be a good place on the MT.O site to post a thread/question about trying to source a product.  I am looking for a toothpick holder for my Father.  I know its not a MT, but he would carry something like that around on a daily basis as an EDC thing.

Would it be ok to post something like that on the General Thread forums??

You can either post on General Tool Discussion or Tools Needed, I think.

I think a Swiss Champ makes an excellent toothpick holder.  :D
