Day 4!
I put Evowood scales on my T814, but that means no tweezer or toothpick slots. Panic at the disco!

Whilst playing around, I discovered that the same piece that holds the Victorinox toothpick in it scale will hold it securely next to the closed corkscrew. But it's too long! What to do? What to do?

What to doooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...

The wire cutters cut through the toothpick like butter. Not like butter would cut through a toothpick—but you knew what I meant.

It's not much of a project, but the results seem good.

This morning I couldn't get into my truck—it was frozen shut (hi, winter! Missed you!) I managed to chip enough ice with the small slot driver to get inside, and then managed to unstick the windshield wipers by prying with the pliers. The chiseling would never have worked without a locking driver, or at least a good slip-joint. Anyway, I made it to work on time! Thanks, Val!

A successful Day 4!

Wow, frozen car already? :(  You must have a long winter to look forward too. :-\

Anyway; a very fun read as always mate, keep it up.

Yeah, she's pretty much lounging by the pool in comparison to what Vicky faced  >:D Although being that close to water is a hazard for a Leatherman I suppose  :P

How do you think the rebar pliers work with the large cutters in the plier head.

I haven't used mine but it looks like they might get in the way.

Note that in this example there are 4 or 5 points of contact on the nut, and 2 of them are the cutters.

But that bit of the cutter is at an angle so it's OK in my book. I can't get my hands round the handles if I put a nut in the jaws that's a problem due to the cutters.

I'm probably sound a bit like a stuck record on this aren't I?

I don't seem to have a problem with the pliers. At least they're (the cutters) angled to allow for decent gripping.

I don't characterize as problematic the fact that the Rebar's cutters serve as part of the pliers' gripping surface, as pliers with non-replaceable cutters work in the same way (depending on the size of the stock being manipulated).  The only caveat is that the Rebar's main plier surface is smaller than that of the Wave, for example (about 5 ridges on the Rebar vs. about 7 on the Wave).   I bet that the Leatherman engineers have this one figured out.  Mr. Sawman is right about the Rebar's cutter's being angled (unlike those of the Wave, etc.).

It'll get heavier this evening for sure, but in the meantime rest assured that chipping ice absolutely destroys lesser tools.

Did you try using the needlenose pliers? The pliers are one of the most unused tools on my LMs, but it's nice to have them.

Day 5 was a theatre evening, but not a camera evening, because the director would hace (rightfully) burned up my face with laser eyeballs. Legit. But there was some real use, as promised!

I finally got a good chance to test the saw on two pieces of 1/2" dowel, which needed to be put into halves to stand in for swords. The saw worked just fine. I found it more comfortable to use with the handle unfolded.

I also got to play Super Hanger Snippy Time when a friend lost a script down a crack by a staircase. We needed a way to fish it out—a long way, preferable. The cutters bite through coat hangers like they aren't even there (the coat hangers,, that is. The pliers were definitely there.) Nice, smooth cuts! After the script was saved, I went ahead and snipped the rest of the hanger into tiny pieces (boredom!) The cutters have taken no damage, and continue to make nice, clean cuts.

Day 6 was also Theatre Evening Super Good Yes Time, though I had a day of work first.

Don't ask me how someone managed to get .7 lead all the way down the tip of a .5 mechanical pencil, but I needed a straight pin and a small hammer to break it back out. I had the pin, but I didn't have a hammer.

Just kidding! I totally did! A Leatherman hammer with pliers in!

Unbelievably, it totally worked!

Later, I needed a table saw, so I needed something to push some plywood through without removing and/or re-landscaping my arm. Thanks, Val!

They say "no pain, no gain", but I've always preferred "no pain, no pain."

Now, since I'm attaching this plywood to a longboard (to make a longerboard, or possibly a longestboard) for someone to roll around with onstage, I also rasped off some ragged edges. The main blade did great, and doesn't require any sharpening yet, either.

I assume "rasp" is short for "raspberry".

I didn't get a picture of the four refrigerator boxes Val had to cut apart to make a cardboard house, but I didn't have a utility knife, and the Rebar's main blade made nice clean cuts. It miraculously still doesn't need sharpening. Heavy corrugated cardboard is usually hot murder on knife blades. I'm impressed.

Days 5 and 6! Aww yeah!

I'm in the same position-desk jockey ;)  Well, for the most part anyway.  I am out and about doing things off and on, but not much that requires MT/SAK usage.  However, I have a Rebar, and I too want to see what it can do when put to the test.  Bring it :viking:

I know Jothra isn't in the same line of work anymore though, so Val may not get put through the same torture that Vicky did.

I do want to see Val pushed in the same manner Vicky was.  Maybe Jothra will find some creative ways to test the Rebar in this theatre setting...
