Toothpick Holder Recommendation (EDC)
on: October 22, 2013, 03:05:06 PM
Greetings All -

My apologies if this isn't in the right category (Mods, feel free to move if I have miss placed it...).

Anyway, I am looking to get a Toothpick Holder for my Father for a gift.  He uses toothpicks a lot, likes to carry them, and I have seen him with various home made contraptions from wrapping them up in tissues to carrying them in an old pill bottle.

I thought it would be great if I could get a 'nicer' one so he could carry with him.  I know he would appreciate it and would use it daily.  Here's what I am thinking:

- I am hoping for something of 'decent' quality, without being too cheap ($3) or too expensive ($30+).  I have seen $2 and $3 plastic ones around, but they look cheap.  I am not interested in buying a $70 one either, I would prefer to buy him another MT, as would he!
- I am not looking to have it on a key chain.  I know he would appreciate being able to carry it in a pocket
- being able to be engraved with his initials would be ideal!
- I would have to be able to buy it online (I am located in Eastern Canada).

I found one online over the weekend that looked amazing (stainless steel, engravable, could hold about 10 toothpicks, was about $20), but the reviews on the site were horrible!  Apparently the cap would constantly come off.  So apparently a secure cap would be something I am looking for.

Anyway, don't know if there is anything like that out there, but I thought I would toss it out to you fine folks for comments/suggestions!

Thanks,

I use a couple of metal cigarette cases to store my cards (credit and stores). It's sleek, robust and classy...

Try looking at survival capsules and also those waterproof match safes. Both should fasten to a keychain. I also agree on the SAK suggestion  ;) and I have simply popped a couple of toothpicks in my wallet from time to time

I was thinking the same thing.  you could find the bison capsules used by geocachers.  when Im at the fleamarket on Friday I can stop and see if they have the right size for a toothpick.  there are different colors and have a rubber gasket that keeps items inside dry.  there is also a key ring attachment and they are pretty tuff so he can sit on it and not be a problem.  ive seen green, red, blue, silver, black and im sure many other colors.

Thanks for the suggestions gang.

Here is what I was hoping for...something like this:

However, the reviews for the product are not the best as people complain that the top comes off.

Cut the toothpics to fit, use the twisting end to get them out. I'm waiting to finish one of those to use for a firesteel holder. Didn't think about using it for toothpics...
