A couple interesting offbrand Multi-Tools. A Katahdin and a Cape Union

The Cape Union is pretty interesting because it looks like the smurf offspring of a Juice and a Squirt.  The quality of the detents/springs is actually very good it is on par with a LM Squirt.    It's 420J steel so it isn't as good as 420HC.  Overall not a bad tool it fills the gap between the Juice and the Squirt.  It has near Leatherman quality detents and snaps shut with authority.  It's good enough that I carried it before.

Here's the Katahdin, the build quality isn't up to Leatherman standards and I'm sure it uses subpar steel compared to Leatherman.  It has Leatherman style spring loaded pliers.  You can't tell by the picture but the anodizing is nice, perhaps better looking than a Squirt.  One of the drivers on it is pushed in/broken so that's why it's not showing in the pics.

I'm not advocating for these brands that clearly steal design elements from Leatherman.  I have more Leatherman's than you can shake a stick at and they have an unbelievable warranty, which is my opinion is worth the price especially if you can pick one up used.

These are just a couple odd/interesting multitools I happened to pickup that I wanted to share with you guys.

  • Any tool is better than nothing. Some not by much
Where did you get these, if I may ask? I THINK the juice knock-off is available on e-bay, but I don't recall seeing the katahdin before.

I got them at flea markets.  It's sort of a juice knock-off it's more like a mini-juice.

Oh, yeah, i know it's not at the same scale as the original juice.

That one's been discussed in, I think, two other threads here.

This one for sure.

Nice pictures and size comparison. :salute: I think I like the openers better that on the original. :D

The other one was for a larger "Juice" Same tool loadout as the XE6 but a bit larger.

Both of them were made by Ruiss I think.

Never seen the Katahdin one before. :tu:
