What do you think of LionSteel as a brand?

I know that they make knives, but I do not know if they make multitools.

Have a look at Bladeforums too, as I think there have been some discussions on their knives.

EDIT:
They have a forum there:

I know they make pricy knives but they never appealed to me and I never held one in my hand let alone owned one so I can't give you an opinion on them. I think they had a collaboration with Spyderco at some point.

Hopefully some other members will have played with one. :salute:

What knife are you interested in?

Lion Steel Equipment has been fined £480,000 for the corporate manslaughter of one of its employees, making it only the third company in the UK to be convicted under the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act since it came into force in 2008.

So the top results on Google aren't desperately helpful!

Isn't the Grizzly an APC?

Is that the same Lion Steel? I mean, the one I found was  a knife making company from Italy, not from the UK...

I very much doubt it, but from my Googling that's the company that comes up.

An Italian knife company appears eventually :)

I do like some of their design, and own a Ti Spine.  I don't use it for EDC, but mostly for light tasks and collection purposes.  So I don't have too much idea about the steel upon hard use.

Here are some of my thoughts about this knife:

Pros:
Solid early lockup, and no play
Beautiful finish, handle milled from one piece of Ti for simplicity and strength
Special milling technique allow interesting pattern on handle
Pattern on handle also serves traction
Strong detent

Cons:
When blade opens 85%, there is a first click and user might mistake it as opened.
Mill marks inside the handle
Strong detent might need a little practice to open

Ahh enough of me babbling, you probably could find a lot of more info on blade forum.  :D

Just bought a Grizzly online. Originally they were like $300 bucks. With postage its going to set me back just over $200 which is my limit for a knife. Our exchange rate isn't getting worse by the hour, so I thought I better buy it now. They don't make them any more so I guess that makes them a collectors Item. I normally try and avoid companies with questionable ethics, but as tool makers I believe they have a good reputation for quality. It's made out of some fancy steel I have never even heard of. It reminds me of the Wilkinson Sword Survival Knife made in the late 80's (I think).

I had a Lionsteel SR1

It was a cool knife but other than a collectors item it was pointless.

For a serious working knife Cold Steel knives have stronger lockups (pocket bushman).  I found it to heavy for an EDC knife.  I prefer knives in the 2-3.5oz range, that are fast to open.

It's a good high quality knife, if you like them and you can swing the price...it may be worth picking up.

Had a black Allu SR2 - smaller model of the SR1 - on my wishlist for a while. Ordered one direct from Lionsteel 2 days ago. Looking forward to how the Sleipner steel performs, and how sharp I can get it.

I just received my SR2, and it bit me last night. My fault.

The knife feels up to hard use, but you pay a little premium for the styling. I'm really aching for a TiSpine now, but it's way above my budget.

I also have a DPx HEST 2.0, and it's almost the complete opposite of the SR2. The Hest is a lot rougher on the hands.

I had mine land last week, it has not bitten me yet, but it is very sharp out of the box. Handle with care.
