What to do with a retired 58mm Pocket Pal
on: October 27, 2013, 07:43:50 PM
So I have this pocket pal that has lived in my wallet for years (and before that it spent its time in my moms wallet). Its in fairly rough shape, still SAKWiki claims pocket pals to be "fairly rare" and unlike what the Wiki says mine is not red with shield, but its guaranteed for real and guaranteed 25+ years old (I have no idea how old it really is).

So I'm wondering if this is of any value to a collector at all.

I doubt its worth a lot of money
collectors want knives that are mint.

I say put it back in your wallet and enjoy making more memories with it.

Its what I have thought too. I'm kinda considering taking it apart and trying to polish its scales then put them on a rambler (should make it 3mm thinner), I also prefer this nail-file to the one with the screw-driver.

+1 for this. I wouldn't recommend trying to polish it too much; you might end up rubbing off the design or the anodizing. It's got a lot of character already.

+1. I won't polish it if it were mine, neither would I change the scales or else. I'd keep that original look as long as possible, these kind of SAKs are becoming more and more rare to find and I like it in its current form. It's a very cool little SAK as it is!

I can't help with your dilemma, but thanks for the idea of what to do with the alox classic I just got.. The wallet knife.
