AMEFA '74 DAKs

A few days ago I stumbled upon an auction for an Amefa Dutch Army knife.

I've seen others before but this one was ... different. The tool combo on it was somewhat unusual. Awl and the bottle opener on the same layer, knife on its own layer.

I browsed around the MTO archives and could only find a reference to it in a WTS thread by Reinier where he sold two of them, both 1974, both with this tool combo. (hope you don't mind me using that pic  )

So my question is, did they only make this tool combo in 1974? Did Victorinox ever make anything similar, (or any other SAKalike manufacturer for that matter) ?

Victorinox started making Soldiers for the Dutch Army from 1983 on till 1992 so my guess is that they never used this tool combination, but never say never. It's not the first time that Victorinox surprises me with some "unusual" design. Reinier might have some more information on this one, since he lives in the country of origin...

I had one years ago. About lost a thumb-nail every time I tried to open it, so it was traded off rather quickly.

Very cool one!

Question for who had/has one like this:

Is the blade by any chance thicker and straight, (some) Solo style? Or is just the regular Soldier blade of the time?

 :salute:
