Very cool. 8)

Is this the first time that the shields come in orange too? Besides from the completely orange ones, I don't remember seeing orange shields.

Also I wonder if the gray is the same gray that came in the combo package with the wrist watches?

Yep, first time for the separate orange shield. I'm curious how they look in reality.

The gray I suspect is similar to the recent gray with black framed shield Harvester. That's a cool gray...

I was thinking the gray ones with red shield Blade Runner posted in the Gray Pioneers thread.

I knew what gray Pioneers you were referring to. As I said, my guess is that these Sea Pioneers will be close to the recent LE Harvester from the same 'source' - a lighter, more metallic, sort of gray than those Pioneers. When I will receive mine I will see how close they are.

I missed out on the red shield Sea Pioneers. It looks like Tim only had 20 of them for sale, which I would assume means that there are 30 somewhere else for sale.

Can anyone tell me what other stores might have the other 30 Sea Pioneers with the red shield for sale?

I expect some to appear soon on eBay (I will PM you the seller). I do not know in this case of another source for these particular LEs.

Thanks! I'm probably going to pass if they are listed much above retail, or if they go up for auction. I'll definitely keep an eye out in any case. Much appreciated  :tu:

But in reality -- for those of us not adrift on the Raft of the Medusa -- what on earth is that spike good for? It looks cool, but I don't see a purpose. Too big for a toothpick, too short for vampires...

Well for me personally it is a collecting thing. I do not use any of the Limited editions I buy from Tim. The MarlinSpike is not seen on very many Victorinox models.

That little spike started on SAKs as a sacking needle (for farmers) and later was upgraded to the status of a marlinspike (sailors): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marlinspike

Today SAKs with it are extremely collectable. Victorinox stopped manufacturing the spike many years ago and all the spiked LEs that were made since were made with leftover parts. Each one of these new marlinspike SAK runs may be the very last one.

I was going to order 2 or 3 last night. Fell asleep for a few hours, woke up, and they were all gone. :(

Kicking myself right now. If anyone one wants to sell me one or trade one for something (or another SAK or SAKs), please let me know.

I saw these last night also, before Tim posted them in the Deals area. I actually frequently check his store on my phone, and when I get home every now and then. Found some good stuff just by looking.

I really couldn't believe they were just there...so I picked up both versions. I'm relatively new to the alox collecting, and have been trying to cut down as it is, but I couldn't help myself. I knew these would be hard to find, and therefore impossible to pass up at that price.

At least I sold a couple more knives recently that covered these.  :tu:

I wish I would have gotten extra now that I think about it...

Absolutely. If smartphones were made for anything, it was to keep eyes plastered to alox outlets like Tim.  :gimme:

I'm hoping the same thing. A grey or blue farmer or Pioneer with a red or orange shield would be outstanding.
