Used Diesel, previous owner did some tinkering and reassembled it incorrectly so I had to fiddle with the washers a bit but in pretty solid shape!

Just received an MP600 sight tool that needs a good cleaning before I can post a pic.

Here's the pic.  I really like the sight tool and the Phillips driver on the other side.

Nice looking example, Alan, congrats!  :tu:

Higgins, is your Diesel black oxide or silver in color; how do you like it?

Juan, funny you should ask, both! I happened to be scrolling through ebay and saw a listing for these two Diesels and a Strata and remembered reading everyone's thoughts on them in my previous time being active here.

Price was pretty low and the bug has bitten me again recently so I had to give it a shot. Honestly I think I like them more than my old MP600. I never really got on with the MP, worked well and I keep it as the truck tool, but I never really found myself wanting to carry it.

I like the thin profile on the Diesel plier head for fishing, I don't love the blade shape, and I've never been a huge scissors on a plier tool guy, but I like the fact that the handles splay with deployment, and the handle tools are all pretty stout and well ground. I've been carrying the black one a fair bit. Someone cracked the blade tip on the Silver but otherwise it's fine.

The Strata seems to have lived the hardest life of any MT I've seen lol, somehow missing multiple chunks from the scales and the blade is sharpened into a toothpick. But I always wanted to check one out!

My son had a Diesel for awhile.  I liked the tool set and how it carried.  I missed out on picking it up when he did some housecleaning a few years back.

Great trio you have there!; thank you for your review, as now I have a clearer image of what the Diesel is and how good it can be.

Well, the intrusive Ebay thoughts got me. Lot of 3 Suspension NXTs shipped for 41 bucks. I read plenty about these right as they debuted and was always curious, but not curious enough to spend for it.

Threw a bid on a group of them and ended up winning. Honestly, I'm not sure I could ask for better for the price. I see them in stores going for 50+ which I feel is way too high, but routinely found for under 20? No complaints for me.

A little bulky in the pocket, and you can tell the QC isn't perfect. But every tool seems well ground, useful(except you, microfile/ruler!), and reasonably well thought out.

I'm looking forward to beating on it a bit and seeing if my thoughts change. I always seem to be more pleased getting performance from value, so I'm excited

That was my opinion too.  It is a durable tool, especially for the price.  I gave mine away.  I want to pick up another one sometime soon.

:iagree: especially about the ruler. There is a similar such thing on the Rev/Wingman ilk, and I always figured that space could be better allocated for something else.

Just arrived from the bay.  Listed as GERBER Multi-Plier 600 Multi-Tool.  I discovered the listing about an hour before it ended, dropped a bid and forgot about it. You know, as you do when absent mindedly scrolling through the 30 odd pages of Gerber MP tools.  I'm sure I wasn't the only one who noticed it was something different, because there were about 30+ bidders.  I remembered I had bid on something the next morning and found I had won. :woohoo:  So, what we have is not an MP600, but an MP400 Fisherman's tool.  Rough shape, but nothing's broken.  It is covered in surface spotting but I'm pretty sure a little Flitz will clean it up nicely.  I've already oiled the pivots, and the tools are coming out fairly easily.  At least better than they did right out of the package.  The final price was an eighth of what these typically go for and I've got a project out of it too!

Today I bought a Diesel along with a couple of other tools because I got all three for 60 bucks.  I know the Diesel is not the best model out there, but it does have scissors which I like for EDC and I really wanted the old-style round bottom pouch it came with for something else.  Here's the Diesel with one of the other tools in the lot, a SOG Power Lock EOD, both in black.

The latest Gerber is a rare beauty.

It's so yellow, it puts Tweety bird to shame.

Now we know there are 5 colors: standard (creme tone), Black, Darkblue, Red and YELLOW !!

If you manage to find all 5, you could summon Captain Planet.

It's actually my first MP800, which is a bit weird given my current Gerber collection.
I hope to add the dark blue in november. The red is a complete lottery ticket to find. Only J-Sews has one that I know of.
