Multiple 91's
on: November 05, 2013, 09:04:09 PM
Does anyone else carry more than one 91mm on their person at once? I've been carrying a Vic Ranger for the past few weeks, but I have also been slipping my Tinker in my pocket. The Tinker just feels right in my hand, but the tool selection of the Ranger is almost perfect for me. I also carry a Spyderco Para 2. Almost forgot about the LM CS4 in my coat.
What has this place done to me?

It's made you gain weight. :)

Personally, I don't carry any 91mm tools anymore. My Compact sits in my drawer these days in favor of the alox stuff.

I have been known to carry multiple 91mm SAKs.

I love having a super tinker in my back pocket and in my front pocket have one of these
[SwisdsChamp, Cybertool 41, Champion, Explorer]

then there is the Leatherman in the holster, and a large MT in a MOLLE holster on my bag, and ... well, you get the idea.

If I can help, let me know

For a little bit I carried a Voyager and Digi Timekeeper, one in each front pocket, in addition to a Midnite Manager...

Ummm, I'll admit that I carry a Vic Pioneer in my pocket and a Vic Handyman-Spirit combo in my bag pretty much every day. Otherwise and with lots of anguish I'm carrying just a Vic Climber as an urban EDC.

Carrying more than one MT, whether SAK or plier-based, is over the top. I would make an exception for a 58mm SAK on the keys, but that's it.

That is very true,  but I carry what I want each day based on What I want that day.

OK, today is a bad example, but, here is what I Choose to carry.

In my Skinth Shield 2XL

Charge TTi
Full Bit Kit
Bit Extender
flashlight
Ferro rod
Pencil
Leatheman P4

Back pocket

Leatherman Piranha

Front Left Pocket
Victorinox SwissMemory with White LED light

Front Right Pocket

SwissChamp

I decided to carry this today,  just because I could

I Pilot a desk so, not the most demanding MT SAK environment

If I can help, let me know

Whoa!   That's impressive.   I used to carry 2 SAKs all the time, but since I am now carrying at least one slipjoint traditional folder, one OH folder and a SAK, I had to limit the number of SAKs in my pocket.  Now, I still carry a large SAK and/or a SwissTool in my BOB.

It's my new weightlifting regime.  Carry extra weight... in an external bag... yeah.

My backpack that I carry everyday has my Surge,  and a slip joint knife,  along with locking pliers,  precision tool kits,  laptop (18.4" screen)  and 5 Terabyte drives and several flash drives.  cannot forgery school books and canteen.   I guess it to be about 40 pounds

Thanks, you guys made me feel quite sane again.  ;)

My Climber is overkill for my desk job. Even a Rambler is. Classic is all I need.

I brought a paring knife with a scabbard that is in my desk drawer just for peeling and cutting up fruit.

I'll allow myself the Climber anyway, now that I know there are some real nutters out there. :)

I reseamble that remark.

I am a nutter.   But that is OK.   This is where tool nutters congregate,  so :ahh:

The only way I could see myself carrying two 91's is if I did something like take apart a Compact and a Swisschamp and build two medium thickness knives so I had all the tools of the Swisschamp without them being in one huge lump. Would also give the opportunity of having a PE and Serrated main blade or a "clean" and "dirty" main blade pairing.

Actually I do have a Champion and a Yeoman-Mechanic pairing that nearly fill that description. Loose the mag-philips and fish-scaler layers from the Champion and it would be exactly.

Almost forgot about the esquire that is on my keychain.  :D
I don't feel so bad now that I know I'm not alone. I know that I don't need to carry duplicates of tools, but I like to.

I think secretly I carry multiples to justify my collection which continues to grow.  Every time I go into my collection and switch a knife out for the day, I feel super guilty and think about selling some.  And when I add one in, I realize how little space I have and how much I really should sell some.

Then, the wind shifts and I feel like carrying a one hand opening or assisted open or one with a spydie hole or a slipjoint or whatever.  Always have one SAK on me though and if we count the 58mm ones, then I still always have 2 on me.
