Freehand, whith a flat stone (diamond, SC, ALO, Wet/dry), in the same motion you would do with a chisel grind knife, and then removing the wire bur in the other side, taking care not to thin the edge, since you only want to remove any damage the chisel could have.

I know, very old one. But i searched for "chisel" on the forum and from the first page this one seemed the more relevant. I put a chisel bevel on 2 saks. Working great, nk pics atm, because errors. Both flat, lockable screwdrivers wich are at most prying tools. So, i made chisels. Grinding and stones afterwards. No complaints. They don't look perfect, but in time with sharpening, they will.

Edi, those are good mods!

And just throwing ideas out there, I have also seen people modding those flatheads into a spoon carving chisel, by sharpening a divot on the other side of the tool, which I think s also a cool idea.

Thank you! I know what you mean... but i'll leave them there, as it is. They actually work, better than i had hopes for. Of course, resharpening is a must. That rounded spoon carver has to be rounded. I have a dedicated mora for that and i don't carve spoons  at all. Don't see a point, actually  :dunno:

@Edi, great mod! I did the same thing with the opener layers on a Spartan that I am making my dedicated carving knife. I put both the bottle opener and the can opener (after I filed off the part that cuts the can lids) to a whetstone and now I have two chisels. After the stone, I put a sharper edge on them with wet/dry sandpaper with 800, 1200 and 1600 grit and finally a leather strop. Now they slice through wood with ease.

Especially when the steel is soft  ::) i only took them on diamond and ceramic stones. Leather to finish. Sandpaper is really not my stuff for sharpening  :dunno:
I'll try that can opener... i get it. It's a nice idea... indeed. Pulling material, instead of pushing... thank you!
