Uitlity knife blades

Def's thread on Gerber EAB sale reminded me of this. Am I the only cheap ass who actually sharpen the utility blades instead of throwing them away?

I use a snap off knife to scrape surface and cut off solder etc on my workstation (aka a table in basement), the edge tend to fold when cutting/scraping excess solder, but I just pass it on a stone instead of changing to a new blade, throwing it away seems like a waste when I can restore it under 15 seconds.

A few years ago when I almost got caught up in the superknife craze I was known to sharpen a few dull utility blades. I wasn't cheap though, I was practicing different sharpening methods and styles to see which worked for me.

If there isn't another replacement utility blade handy I will hit it against a Block abit.  But I usually have extras and just change it.  On the snapoff blades I am known to keep them well past there (normal) usefulness.  We use ridgid foam insulation sometimes that we put on block walls before we brick a building, those snapoff blades really do the trick to that stuff even when very dull  :D

Why not, they aren't free. If it only takes you 15 seconds, that's probably less time than it takes me to switch blades in my utility knife. Granted I usually dance a jig and hum a tune when I do it, so maybe I'm wasting time.
