   A side handle might be quite useful for horizontal cuts...

:like:  I have a similar saw by Orsa--it's huge; with an at least 30 inch blade. The local power company used it long before the adoption of powered saws to clear the lines.

I'm working on this old Collins brush axe we've had around the farm many years. Trying to get it sharpened up to use.

This was made by a fellow that was on Forged in Fire. His crest is the circles in the grip. I can't remember his name but he's from here in Alberta. Machette hatchet.

Speaking of slashers, I've just taken over a very neglected allotment which needs a lot of clearing before it can be used for anything. :ahhh
I've been looking at the "Large grass/weed slasher" shown below.
Has anyone used this type of slasher before?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Large-Grass-Weed-Slasher-Clearer-Scythe-Garden-Clearance-Wooden-Grip-Hand-Tool/222296630558?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D45732%26meid%3D39703ad185804479b49dc6044299cc7c%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D371027897659&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851
Try slashing with one of these. Rescued from our Saskatchewan barn.
