Sharpening 1095 steel

How much longer should it take to reprofile a 1095 steel edge than say 420HC, 154CM or S30V? At the moment I'm using the lansky system.

I maybe corrected here by someone more knowledgeable , but as far as it goes I was under the impression 1095 carbon is the 'softer' steel ?  so wouldn't it be easier/faster to reprofile ?

Carbon steel (like 1095) sharpens easier than the stainlesses. Generally the carbon steels can be treated to a higher Rockwell, but stainless is also more wear resistant in nature which impedes the sharpening process, even if it's treated softer than carbon steel.

Should be similar to 420HC.

Taxi. I am trying to re-profile the edge on a older-style Ontario US aircrew survival knife.

One of the great things about 1095 is the ease of sharpening.
I have some older US knives in 1095 and they sharpen easily (Lansky or whetstone) taking a very keen and lasting edge.  (if only they did not rust...   :D )

Tried to post pics but they are too big. Will try again when I figure out how to reduce quality on IPad pics.
