Hello.
I recently purchased a suge and i*ve notiched that the washers (or covers) over the blades rotate slightly. Is this a flaw or am I overthinking things.
Thanks.

Mine is doing the same. I don’t think it is a problem.

Hello all of ther Leatherman Surge owner. I just got my leatherman Surge black today and it's my first leatherman tool after couple weeks of thinking which one suits me best. There are some problem that i got and hope that you guys can help me solve my problems. First thing first it's all black and I don't know how but my hand got some black coast after touched my Surge. I used some tissue to wipe it off and it's better now I just wondering is that my fault or is that the black oxide coast is really easy to come off and not durable like in some advertisements. 2nd thing is the pliers is really hard to close and when I watched some video it looks so easy and smooth mine is really hard and you have to use some muscles to do the job.Apart from that it's a amazing tool and I hope it can serve me for many years in the future.  :drink: :drink:

Sorry I can't help with the BO coating, I don't own a BO leatherman. I'm guessing it's just a bit of excess left over from the BO process. If it completely comes off leatherman will replace it under warranty. I'm sure another member who has a collection of BO tools will soon come along and answer this one for you.

With the plier head, it will free up with use. I have 3 surge's at the mo. One was 2nd hand and nice and free when I got it, the other two were that were brand new and were really tight out of the box but have freed up nicely with use.

Almost forgot, welcome to  :MTO:

Great tool, i have same with BO.  It is normal first for that eccess BO to come off.  And at first pliers are rather hard to fold in. It will smoothen with use. Maybe you could add some oil to pivots to make it smoother.

What the others have said. The BO is just excess. Leatherman's tend to have a break in period which does not last long. The more you use it, the smoother it will get. Also, welcome to MTO.

Thank you guys :D Really helpful informations :) I just got it out of the box today and it sill has oil in between blades and tools. I bought the BO version just because of I was hopping it would help the tool against other harmful factors.

Looks like you've been helped so I'll just say welcome and enjoy this beast.  Oh and make sure to get some T shank saw blades to fully enjoy the capabilities this tool offers.

Just think how much money Leatherman could make if they would release some real accessories to go with your Surge. This is my weekend warrior (army reserve) field kit in a Skinth Mondo Sheild. Including: Leatherman Bit Kit and Extender, variety of T-shank Wood/Metal/Carbide/PVC/Plastic/Multi Surface Saws, Topeak Rocket Ratchet Lite DX, Pocketwrench II, Gerber Artifact, Sog Firesteel/Sharpener Accessory, Victorinox Compass/Ruler/Magnifying Glass/Thermometer, Victorinox Toothpick & Tweezers, Maglite, and Zebra Telescopic Pen Stylus.

Is it possible to swap the built-in lanyard ring to the other handle?

I might... or I might put a hole into a pocket clip (which will go into the other handle)...

The pocket clip package for Leatherman comes with a lanyard ring that goes into the groove on the other handle.

Thanks, I know about that.
They should have made a lanyard ring in the clip as well.
