The MTO way is of course to get both   If It that isn't feasible get whichever one you fancy the most :D :tu:
Yes, that is an option.  Then move handles between the two and have two 2-tone units.  Then keep the color combo I like then sell the other!

It has crossed my mind.

I do have one like DT shows that Kev was so kind to gift to me. I also have the bigger version of the one I showed earlier that I was referring to,  shown here on the left  :tu:

(Image removed from quote.)
So they make a premium leather larger than the 4-1/2” model?
Need to find on e-bay AND out bid you!!

Yes, this a 5" version with a cutout for a Mag lite. They come up every once and a while

I actually use mine for my MP600 BN.

But that's not the "Premium" Leather, is it?
I thought the Premium Leather is like DT's one and is some sort of reconstituted "leather".... as opposed to Steve's "proper" leather....

I've bought mine as "Premium leather", correct. As to how premium the leather is, can't tell yet, not enough use...

Leatherman hasn't used real leather since the old style box sheaths although some of the early yellow logo sheaths are real leather. All since have been what's called bonded or reconstituted leather and are are far inferior in quality and durability IMO.

I really wish Leatherman would bring back the quality sheaths of the past  :pok:

Meanwhile the modded Surge is snugly fitted in its sheath, with a bit card, the sleeve for the extra file containing an additional Vic tweezers and toothpick set, and in the stretch side pockets a bit holder and an extender as well as a LED Mag Solitaire.

I have noticed however that the stretch pockets quickly lose much of their elasticity and objects may start falling out if too loose...

I've carried the extender with the removable driver like that for years, it sits on the sheath pretty well.

I carried a 1/4" drive ratchet & extension in mine for years and they never fell out either.

You need to stop wearing it while bouncing on the trampoline

The warning is a valid one, thanks. Without adapter the extender would easily fall out, but with adapter it doesn't (yet). The one in my ST 300 VX sheath has been provided with a clip from a pen, as avid followers of the ST threads might have noticed.

Is it the one that goes on the Phipps or the bit exchanger? I can't tell by the pic. It almost looks like it has been modified.

Never mind. I see now. Thanks for the info.

The one that goes on the Phillips Driver is called the Removable Bit Driver.
The one that goes in the Bit Driver is called the Bit Driver Extender.

Any particular reason? I like them a lot, IMHO LM's most solid design...

The design is ok, but not great.

-The cutting edge is too short for how big the tool is. If the design followed the Juice proportions, we'd have a longer cutting edge. If it followed the design of the PST 2 or OUTU, we'd have a great cutting edge. The scissor handle that the spring lies against is wasted metal. Look at the PST2 scissors. they pivot at the base of one blade.
-The moving handle is too far away from the body of the tool. Open the scissors, and look how far away you have to put your thumb to operate the scissors. Check other MTs or SAKs. The moving handle is close to the body. On the Surge, my thumb does not reach the moving handle, if I hold the tool normally. I have to have it lower in my palm, to operate the scissors.

Until I find Evil's Wave mod, with those awesome scissors he did, check this mod, also for the Wave. Great design.
