Hello!  New around here, been lurking around. Decided on a Surge for my first Leatherman.  So far I am pleased and can't wait to be able to utilize it!

Thanks for everyone who posts information in here!  :multi:
Welcome to  :MTO:...AND nice choice of first LM!
I have the two-tone Surge in my shelf-queen collection and it is just plain sexy.
The Surge is one of those tools that we complain about the weight on, but still carry, because it is sooo good. I carry my stainless Surge with the file, wood saw, metal jigsaw blade, and 21pc(42 driver possibilities) bit set. Worth every ounce. :2tu:

Thanks!  I love the bi-tone!  Are there any good sheaths that will hold the saws/files and the bit kit?  The one it comes with comes close but can't quite do it.

The weight is worth the functionality, I am glad I didn't concentrate too hard on that aspect.

You're quite welcome, kalison!

Honestly, I don't care to put everything in one sheath. I use the premium leather 2-pocket sheath for the Surge and keep the blades/bit cards in a PST sheath directly next to it. Stays closer to the belt and isn't too thick. :)

Some use Leatherman's Molle XL sheath, others are always banging on about Skinths.
I use a double mag pouch; one pouch for the Surge, the other for the bit kits, saw blades, RBD etc.

I was thinking of just keeping one of the bit cards with the most used bits in the sheath.

I like your idea as well.  Thanks!

yes the Tasman and Pacific Salt   Yes Spydies are very good knives, and the PM2 might be their most well known model or one of them, and I've heard that carbon steel gets crazy sharp  :o and takes a very neat patina!  :multi:

I've never tried the Compression Lock but have also heard very good things about it  :salute:

Very nice! They are my favorite "nice knives" that I don't worry about abusing.

52100 is fun for the patina guys, but some people hate that and want it to look all pretty and polished all the time.

Ive taken mine to a hair whittling sharp mirror edge.  Which was fun to do, but not practical.  I have settled on 17 DPS with 22 Micro.  Seems to last a while, easy to touch up.... and it will cut!

Compression lock is one of my all time favorites right now.

Sorry dont want to derail the thread.

Thanks Poncho65!

Well after reading a lot about the Surge i see many people like the oho Knives but struggle to get the one they want out.
I read about rembering that the serrated is on the same side as the saw, or the plain is on the clip side.
Well there is Something more simple.. the plain edge has a plain edge on top of the thumb hole, the serrated has indentations there.

Lanwolf,

I too, when searching for a Surge for the collection(so I could turn my regular SS Surge into a user), opted for the two-yone version. It is stunning to say the least. Nice choice, Lanwolf! :like:

Wspeed,
If you go for a Surge, the two-tone is probably the jewel of the finish options. The right finish on the right parts to make it aesthetically pleasing. :)

My SS Surge, still a fine looking beast, came with me to work. I alwayd enjoy having the Surge on my belt. Not counting weight, it is nearly perfect. :)
