Ideal brand knives -- old and quirky
on: December 04, 2013, 06:59:53 AM
I ran across 2 Ideal brand knives at the same auction.  What are the odds of that.  Anyway neither knife is in really good shape, but both have charm.

I have included pictures for you edification.  One knife is a 2 blade pen knife, while the other knife is a mini trapper knife.   Both are made in Providence RI USA.  So they a piece of Americana.  I especially like the duct tape touch on the handle of the top knife.

I am a bit puzzled about the thumbstud on the can opener, though... That doesn't seem so practical...

I like all of your knives.  The Boker brand is excellent quality for the money.  I love that you are a knife user and a knife collector. :sak:

I think the stud is designed to rest on the top edge of the can as you 'wiggle' the blade around

A lot of older can opens didn't have nail nicks, they just used what we call now a thumbstud. Some did use the stud on the rim of the can. Not the case with this one I think.
