Hang on, if that's what Mike would do, it's probably best to try something else.  :D

YES!  Definately finish the edge closest to the tang before glueing up!!   Rough the glueing surfaces up well and wipe with acetone before doing the deed.    I find 120 grit paper leaves a good etch on liner material.

Looking good!   The black liners will be nice.

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated :) Will nail polish remover work instead of pure acetone?

Also what would be a good way of preparing the tang so the epoxy will stick better

Also what would be a good way of preparing the tang so the epoxy will stick better
Just give it a good wipe down with white spirit first, maybe scratch up the tang to key the surface :)

ohh and try to make as many mistakes as possible, so you can teach me what not to do! :twak:

Not a mistake per se but a tip:

Wipe of any excess epoxy that gets squeezed out when clamping things, makes life easier later as you don't have to sand it off :)

I thought they made a nice addition too :D Have just drilled the holes in one side....and two turned out pretty darn straight....the last one is slightly off, but what you gonna do about it! Just one more lesson to learn for the future :) Pics in a bit :)

Well got it all epoxied together last night/this morning :) No idea if what i'm doing is right but it seems to be working so far :D All it needs now is sanding down to the tang and shaping to make it comfy to hold! The holes around the pins aren't perfect but i've learnt a few things from that so if i do it again i'll hopefully have better holes :) It bothers me and it doesn't, i would have liked a perfect knife but it's my first go at this so i'm not too disappointed :)

Bonus points for anyone who can name the tool that left this imprint in my hand :D
