looks like it's coming along nice Roadie! it looks like fun too

I am slightly confused (what a surprise huh!) why would you drill the holes
before you glued one slab on? isn't that asking for un-straight/problems?

if one slab was glued to the tang first (and set) "then" you drilled your
holes through it (through the tang first), wouldn't they be perfect then?!
:twak: me if I'm nuts :D

Not necessarily. The blade is only a couple of mm thick so that would be all the guidance you have for the drill which isn't enough really (unless you have a pillar drill, in which case you wont have any problems!) And once the first hole was done i slipped a pin in it to stop it moving then moved onto the 3rd one and pinned that. The only problem you might have is with the alignment of the front of the slabs. But a liberal application of gaffer tape stopped any movement of that during the drilling process.

Hope that makes sense :)

sounds like you got it to work ;) I know it's not done but how's it feeling in your hand now (weight)?
and how will you be sanding/finishing? sealant?

At the moment it's slightly lighter than an F1 (140 vs 150g) the balance point at the moment is just to the rear of the 1st pin but that will move forward as more material is removed. Its a bit too blocky though at the moment for any real feel of comfort but it's gonna be wider than the handle of the F1 so it should fill the hand fairly nicely :)

As for finishing, it will be taken up to 600grit sandpaper then i'll use some sort of oil to seal/finish it properly, haven't decided what sort yet though :)

Well a couple of hours with some sandpaper this afternoon brought me to this stage :) Still needs a bit more work at the blade end of it but i think it looks pretty nice! Can't wait to get it finished, but that will probably be a good few days :)
