Cheers :) Yeah i probably left a little too much on but i'd rather have too much and spend a lot of time sanding than too little and have to start again. :) I find sanding relaxing anyway so it'll be nice to have this to keep going at during revision/exams, gonna be a bit nervous drilling the holes for the pins though :ahhh

why are you nervous about the drill holes?

Making sure i get them straight, not got a pillar drill so i'm going to have to create some sort of jig that will try and ensure the first set of holes are true. The second set will be easier though :)

unless you have special tools and skills not much I can think of to do with them,
to small for most things and being small, pretty dangerous to carve/work with reg
tools (like dowel pins or inlay), but I also hated wasting any wood.

I thought you glued one scale to the tang "first" then drilled the pin holes?
my understanding was the pins are not to hold the scales down (the glue does)
but to keep them (scales) from lateral movement and support.

Well i was planning on drilling one side, using the blade as a template. Then glue that side to the tang, then drill the other side using the other side and tang as a template  And yeah the pins are just to provide support :)

Cool 8) Do need to remember to make the end of the scales that's near the blade is done up nicely before i stick them on though, as it will be hard to get at later (or so i've read....does make sense though :) )
