My Week in Suspension: Log
on: May 21, 2008, 02:10:09 AM
I got my Gerber Suspension on Saturday, and I've been using it since. It's tuesday, and I have an update.

With a lot of multitools, you can cut banding with the wire cutter. With the suspension, the wire cutter isn't like, beveled or anything, so it can't cut banding. WHICH SUCKS!

That's all for now. More to come.

Still rooting for you,  Unfortunatly I know how it will end. Like a trip to Tijuanna a broken heart and needing a shot of pennicillin

I use a lot of velcro to repair stuff (strange use for velcro, huh?) Well, when carrying my SAK, I use the scissors to cut it. But the scissors on my SAK gets sticky residue from the velcro. But the Friskars scissors on my Suspension oddly has NO sticky residue at all!

Also, the Suspension fits in many different sheaths quite well, and certain phone cases.

And the medium flathead screwdriver works well for loosening the Gerber EAB utility knife.

Not much, but it's a pro.

The list so far:

PROS:
Scissors resist sticky residue
It looks cool.
Fits in many sheaths/cases
Flathead fits EAB.
Sheath lining is real nice

Cons:
Wire Cutter can't cut banding.
That damned lanyard ring...
Resistance pulling tools from handle.

(This is still a partial list, the experiment isn't over!)

-The scissors are small but cut quite well.
-It is cool looking.
-All the screwdrivers are decent IMHO.
-The sheath is well designed and made.

Wire Cutter can't cut banding.
That damned lanyard ring...
Resistance pulling tools from handle.

(This is still a partial list, the experiment isn't over!)

-Maybe that's because the cutter is anvil style rather than bypass style?
-Lanyard ring is well made, but some people don't like them.
-As with many new multis, stiff implements will loosen up after a little use.
-Try opening a can and you may find another item to add to the CON list!

That's only part of it. There's simply too much of a gap between the cutting edges when the pliers are closed.

The (CRAPPY!) Flik has the same problem.

Today, I was using the saw, which is nothing compared to the Spirit saw. Well, I was using the tool pretty toughly. well, the little washers that hold the tool tight in place popped out of their place, and now the tools are rather loose and wobbly.

I took it apart to remedy the problem, but that didnt fix it.

Will return to target.

I'd say you got your money's worth.  ;)

True, the idea of washers that hold the tool in a certain spot is rather SILLY, I grew fond of the Suspension.
