  • I may get older but I refuse to grow up.
..  AND I find it easier than Leatherman's several letter/number-sometimes-makes-sense-usually-doesn't naming, specifically talking here about the Juice line. C2, S2, KF4, etc.

You mean Corkscrew2outside blades, Scissors2outside blades, KnifeFile4outside blades, etc ;)

:P

Drop the MC. Deadly Sqauthrust can stand on its own!

Commando or Commander are also good.  No need to worry about Wenger model names anymore!

Your Deadly McSquatthrust is diddly-squat compared to my Hund-ist-los Toadstabber!  :pok:

Who let the dogs out?

Who let the dogs out?

'Was is los?' (what's happening?)

'Der Hund is los' (literally 'The dog is loose'; figuratively 'things are going crazy, or to the devil')

(German slang)

Something I picked up while studying German 40 years ago. Also picked up a number of other words and phrases that weren't in the text book, or most dictionaries for that matter.  :D

I really like the Toadstabber :D Amphibious creatures, beware!
Is this a K98 Bayonett?

And "Der Hund ist los" sure is older than 40 years. I sometimes hear "Hier ist der Teufel los." But even if you say "Jetzt geht hier die Post ab" I suspect the german kids would not understand you nowadays.

It's an old Elsener (Victorinox) K-31 Swiss bayonet.

Toadstabber is old American slang for a large knife. Another similar old term is 'Arkansas Toothpick'.

  • I'm an Adult?!?! When did that happen?
"Leftenant" isn't going to work cos nobody knows how to spell it...

How about mirroring the aspirations of the kids these days? We could have the:

*Pop Idol
*Dealer
*Supermodel
*Porn Star
*Damien Hirst
*Benefits Cheat ASBO edition
etc...

My suggestions:
Classic: Apprentice
Cadet: Professional
Pioneer: Commando
Farmer: Reaper

I also suggest a new dark grey called "Grim"
So the new dark grey Farmer would be further known as "The grim Reaper"

I want one!

I think the Apprentice already exists ;)

As does the Professional and Commander (not Commando, but close) , both by Wenger though. :D

Naming SAKs is a tricky business, so many versions and variations already. :ahhh

I have all three

Apprentice just like a Recruit, but Wenger

Commander just like a Sportsman, but Wenger

and a Professional 71.31 which is like a farmer with plastic handles and no awl.

It was a joke, a reference to a  song.

I understood the phrase and connotations. :D German is my second language, and how I earn my SAK money. ;)

Didn't know about the toadstabber part though so I learned something today.

There's a nice little sequence in John Ford's "The Searchers" when Texas Ranger Captain Ward Bond is telling a young cavalry lieutenant "Boy, you be careful with that toad stabber (saber)". After the Indian battle Bond is being treated for a wound in his rear end when an Army colonel, the lieutenant's father, rides up.

Colonel - "You wounded? Bullet? Arrow?"

Bond (with a glare at the lieutenant) - "NO!"
