Need help IDing old Case knife
on: August 24, 2013, 01:10:02 AM
I think this knife is from the 1932 - 40 era based on the Case's Tested XX marking.

Not sure what the model number is and what the scales are made of.

Lovely knife.  :tu:  You're correct on the date range based on that stamp.  How large is it overall and what is the blade length?  That info can help determine the model.
There's no such thing as "Too pretty to carry".  There's only "Too pretty NOT to carry"...... >:D

CAUTION: I would not keep that knife with any others you might own as it appears that the celluloid handles have started to deteriorate. When this happens the celluloid gives off nitric acid fumes which will not only destroy this knife eventually but every other carbon steel knife around it.It is especially corrosive to brass and will eat through brass liners very quickly. If it were my knife I would remove those handles immediately.I hate to say this but it looks like a relatively rare Case fixed blade;I don't recall ever seeing one with a handle like that.
