I really like those 111mm scales.

Do you need the knife or can you make the scales and ship them out? What would something like that run. What do your 91mm scales cost and do you need the knife for those?

I cant afford anything right now, but I just would like to know for future reference. You can PM me.

Hey Cap'n - I need the knife because that way I can get the most precise fit, and I like to glue the scales on myself. Prices range from 30-50$ for the rescaling and return shipping, this depends largely on the size of the SAK and the type of material I'm working with.

As for your situation, I'm always down for a trade in return for my work, especially if the word "alox" is involved :) Please don't hesitate to shoot me a PM in case you have something in mind

Easy enough unfortunately, I rarely venture into this section of MT.O. With that said, I think I will have to change that in the future.  :salute:

Beautiful work! Did I miss what you use on the wood as a finish? I like the satin look.

Linseed oil during sanding, after polishing I put on a coat of beeswax

So beeswax down the road is how one would maintain these beautiful scales?

Not necessary, it's just there to protect the wood against moisture. But in the long run it wouldn't hurt the wood if you apply it correctly

Hi there, I have been thinking about making a nice instruction tutorial, but I never have the time (or the nerves) to do it. If you have any questions, please ask, either here in the thread, or send me a PM, I will do my best to help you.

PS. If anyone has a Danish Bantam (green or black) which they would trade for some of my work, let me know!

How do you make a flat plane? What is more convenient to cut the grooves for the toothpick and tweezers? And than soak, ultimately, what makes it Shine ?) thank!

The materials I use are flat because I cut them all to thickness with a circular saw, ideally to be between 3 and 4 millimeters thick. As for the toothpick and tweezers slots, I have a friend who does it for me mechanically on a mill, it's really difficult to it by hand.

Once I sand the scales to 800 grit, I coat them with linseed oil. Once I coat the wood, I give it a few hours so there's enough time for the wood to soak in the oil. I repeat this 4-5 times, then I let the wood dry. I then sand with 1500 and 2000 grit sandpaper. After this I polish with micromesh up until 20000 grit. Finally, I put some beeswax on the scales and then rub it in with a clean cotton cloth. Hope this helps!

Thank you, this is a good recommendation! I start working in this direction and collect the experience of the masters who long ago in this work, I hope to achieve good results!
