Very cool samples. :tu:

Have you thought of opening up a store on www.edcsource.com and selling those?

We have a nice how to on selling there.

EDCSource.com- How To List An Auction

There are no listing fees at all, and no commission for items under $50.  Items over $50 are 5% I think.

These are for sale actually, but I will not be listing them because there's too many obstacles for me at the moment to do that. PP only allows users to send money in my country, and not receive it...

I have similar problems, I can accept money per PP, but I have to wait 30 days + till the next 1st of the month for them to transfer it to my bank account. ::) There's a way to circumvent that though I think, try talking to Gojkan about it, I think he set his account in a way that he could both send and receive money even before there was PP in Serbia.

It's been a while... First off, a refurb project. I got these scales in from a cheap knock-off SAK. The wood is very nice though, and the owner wanted me to put the scales on a proper Victorinox Classic. It was a challenge not to mess up the letters but I'm pretty satisfied with the way it came out. I shaped the scales to size, added the toothpick and tweezers slots, sanded and polished it so it's now miles away from that poopy dollar store look.

Second, another Classic in beli wood for a buddy of mine:

Third and final, Classic in Hawaiian koa wood:

Putting in work this weekend. If the PO doesn't work that doesn't mean I should be slacking!

Classics: ziricote, curly purple heart and another two-tone amboyna burl.

Purple heart is a TOUGH wood, very hard and painstakingly difficult to sand and shape. This is completely different from regular purple heart, I kid you not.

Some macro on the ziricote...

Entire product of this weekend's work:

Now it's time to get these wrapped up and shipped out.

Looks very good

Ever did anything in olive wood? I love olive wood

Seems you do prefer the thinner models :P

I haven't done anything in olive wood so far, but only because it was never requested. I could if I find a good piece I could order. Some of the SAKs that I've rescaled were purchased by me and those are mostly my favorite models: Tinker and Spartan. I just think that thinner models look more elegant with some custom scales... I did do a few Swisschamps as well, just didn't post those photos because the materials repeated themselves.

And of course, thank you very much for the kind words :)

I have some olive trees and prune them, saving the branches to make walking sticks (which I whittle myself in my back yard).  I will happily send you some of my aged pieces (you have to let it dry a year) if you send me you address.

I also have some blocks of briar burl (used to make pipes), which is super hard, but has gorgeous grain.  I can send you some of that as well.

Have you tried making the pen groove and the pin hole?  I would love a set of plus scales.

Mike

Hey Mike! If you look in the past few pages, I have done the pen groove a few times, sometimes with more and sometimes with less success. To be completely honest, I think the holes (for toothpick, tweezers or pen) make the scales weaker and more prone to cracking upon fall. I have never had that happen so far but I fear it might happen more easily than without them. I've had issues with the pen groove once, when I did it on acrylic, and I found out that this particular material is not meant for it, it's simply too soft. On the other hand, harder woods and materials such as G10 or micarta can handle it easily. I have never done the little pin slot but I will in the future.

As for the olive wood, I don't believe I have the proper conditions for drying, but if you think it's possible, let me know. I would love a block of briar burl, however you would have to send me a SAK with it to rescale in exchange for your kindness :) If you're serious, please PM me :)
