Mini Tools.

Ever take a photograph of items you already have and only notice differences once you snap a photo and look at it? Well that is what just happened to me whilst doing some close ups of the Mini Tool collection.

For example, this photo shows that the black Mini has US PAT 4744272, while the stainless Mini above it has US PAT Pend stamped into it, much like the other stainless above it. The lower stainless has the same markings as the BO version. The camo, I can't really read.



the Mini sure is a classy looking piece of art.



Interestingly enough, the pliers stick out of the handles a little...





Not only did I notice differences in the markings, the plier tips are different as well.



Unknown why one MIni has the plier markings odd to the others (second on the right).

Nice shots of you Mini`s Dan. The second to the right is proably a no date Mini. Which also explains it`s different looking plier tips. I`d guess the others have date codes.

I wouldn't all that early Mini "odd".  All of the early ones were done that way (even after the date stamps started in the handles.  The markings and orientation of the "Leatherman" and "USA" on the pliers of the Mini follow the same evolution that they do on the PST over time.   You'll also notice that the finishing on the plier tips is more angular on early Minis than it is on later ones.  Seems to have been somewhat more hand finishing and grinding on the early ones.

i'll need to look up mine minitool and compare..not expecting anything extraordinary though..its at non inflated price.. :D

David is right on the money. That one is an o date Mini. The others have date codes.

Are there Mini-Tools with diferent size pivots?
My two Minis have the same size pivot, although the plier-head markings are smaller on one than the other.
