Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob

Im carrying the little boy today.

thoughts
Being lost in a snow bank for a month was a great test of the black oxide coating .
I'm sure if I put the un coated leatherman through the same test we would see very different results. The bead blasted finish is a rust magnet.

saying all that some more thoughts

No tool is designed to be left in wet snow.

I've had no issues with rust on my stainless rebar or st300.

Neglecting a tool is not a good test also the warranty will not cover neglect.

A quality tool deserves maintenance. Just because it will work without it is no reason not to give it the care it requires.

I take pride in my tools and I take care of them.

We've come along way with this review.

Do any of you have any questions about these tools?

I have yet to do side by side pics of all the tools but I intend to soon.

Now that spring is here I should be using the fat man on the jobsite a lot more. Its been a long winter and I hope to liven things up with this review this spring /summer.

Keep up the great work JA :salute:. Love reading this thread and seeing how these tools are getting used :tu:.

One question: How is the coating holding up? Looks to be going pretty strong from the pictures.

the black oht I used in the oht challenge got me hooked on black oxide. I used and abused it and its finish stood up beyond well.

I got to say I'm impressed with the black oxide coating on both little boy and fat man

it has held up extremely well on both tools, little man lasted a month in a snowbank without rusting and the fat man has taken the daily abuse I've shown it working and is still looking good.

Nice! I've been debating getting some LMs in BO. The only tools I have in BO are a modded MP600 and a Diesel that's in pieces (used for the mod).

Think I might hunt around for a Rebar or Wave. Would love to have a Core in BO, but that will take more work.

it might worth the wait to get a Bo surge.

I was going to get one as my next leatherman but I got plans for the wingman.

opps I said it

the wingman is next tool I plan on reviewing.

I've head so much Smurf about it I want to give it some real life use/abuse.

then we will know what kind of tool it really is  :multi:

I think that the wingman might be the most misunderstood leatherman yet.

we should learn alot

I'm going to take a month or two off after I wrap up this topic.

Your posts keep getting better and better. I have a feeling I would not be happy with a MT without scissors. Don't you need some for your daily work?

Other than that, the Rebar is fascinating. But I now yearn for a BO Surge!

And to give this post a higher meaning: Ther was a wwii documentary on TV, and as I started reading the new posts here, the TV suddenly started talking about Little Boy and Fat Man.
Sadly not the Leatherman variant.

That clears a mystery for me then.  :tu:
I must have missed that tidbit. I quite like the PSTII Scissors but the Micra has to be so more comfortable. Is it spring-loaded?
