Maybe this is a sign that its time for the MP600.  Plus, Mrs. Powernoodle is sitting right next to me at the kitchen table reading a book called Necessary Endings: The Employees, Businesses, and Relationships that All of Us Have to Give Up in Order to Move Forward.

I said I was going 6 months when I started this topic.

I'm not going to cut it short.

Il be using my back up rebar at home and bring the st300 to work until the end of the month.

I'm thinking that the rebar doesn't belong on the job site. Its much more suited to my off work needs.

its kinda my fault it broke because I knew if I used it at work it would.

Ps

I still think that the rebar is a good tool.

I shouldn't have brought it to work.

its the wrong tool for my job.

if I would have be using the st300 much larger flat head driver this would not have happened.

Maybe you are being too hard on yourself.  You said you weren't using very much force.  Sounds like there was something wrong with the driver - maybe a stress fracture or whatever - and not something wrong with the operator.  You were just using the Rebar for its intended purpose.

maybe

but I know I shouldn't have been using it at work in the first place.

That's a bummer Joel :(  Still, I feel that the Rebar survived a lot of work and whatnot, so as you said, it's a good tool.  It's odd how sometimes the simplest, innocent uses end up breaking the tool, even after it's been put through more strenuous work.  I don't remember how much you used the driver, but maybe this was a cumulative issue over several uses and it just finally snapped   Who knows for sure, but it's too bad it didn't make it until the very end.

Yeah I'm still a little disappointed it didn't make it the last couple weeks Kyle.

I unwired a lot of homes with the same driver. Some of the screws I had to use two hands to get moving. Its odd to me that it broke when I was just holding a screw.

it was a odd angle. Maybe I used some force I never applied before.

good thing its not my only tool. :)

Sad news JA! When you send Little Boy in,remember marking him as being sentimental value! That way you'll get him back, rather than having him replaced
There is no beginning,or ending, and for this we are thankful, cos now is hard enough to understand!

You did say you'd break it
Maybe a stress fracture/crack occurred at some point, and this light use was all it took to break it.
Still, it did very well considering what hes been trough so far.

Was that the one that was lost and buried in snow for a couple of months this winter?

Maybe some rust did develop inside the pivot area and weakened it.

It does look like a break under torque by the looks of that pic.

thanks guys

and no I don't think rust had anything to do with the break. It broke at the pivot . It was still oily there when I found him.

I'm getting ready to head out to work and I'm putting fat man on my belt.

I forgot how much heavier he is.

I wasn't at work long before I needed the fat man

I had a lose connection I needed to tighten up on a battery to get a old truck up and running.

the new truck is stuck were it is until it dries up and we can finish moving the house.

Its raining.

I'm working inside on installing a new tub and shower in a used mobile home that's on our lot for sale.

I've been using the fat man to remove all the old fixtures and get ready for new.

I appreciate the extra length of its tools especially the saw.

it only took a few strokes to cut through the PVC water pipe.

Good luck.  My advice about the mobile home is to apply lots of force.  You can thank me later.  And I appreciate very much your unequivocal statement about the ST300.  That's cool.  Rock on.

Well after building a small bridge and lots of laying down matts I got the house in its spot.

nothing like spending half the day hip deep in water to make a guy like his job.

fat man spent the day in the truck. There was no reason to get him all muddy.

it was a long long long day.

its good to be home.

Me too, but this time of year is the hardest.  We could more freely smoke since it would be warmer outside.  Plus getting together with family (my side) that smokes, like at cookouts and stuff like that, makes it tough.  Fortunately non of my wife's family smokes, so that's nice to hang around them without that "aura" of being a smoker around us.  I hope you can bring yourself to quit one day.  I know it's not easy at all.  Even though they say if you can make it one day, you can make it every day, but that urge is still there, and I'm beginning to think it never fully goes away.

Anyway, I don't want to derail your thread with that ;)  Congrats on 20,000 views man

Sorry no pics but I used the fat man to unbend the shroud on a push mower.

I hit a big rock and bent in in pretty good.

I needed to use two hands to get it bent back.

I appreciate fat mans large handles that gave me alot more leverage.

im off work early . I wanted to enjoy my Saturday and take it easy.

I got to mow my own yard tomorrow.

Whew, I managed to catch up.

Sucks to hear about the Little Boy. I have to agree with enki, it looks like a failure due to torque. Rust can not be the issue, as you see the shiny break planes and also how clean the joint portion is.

Maybe the driver hardend under stress so the bottom part (which looks like it's rounded out - a sign of an instantanious fracture) gave way. I only have a basic knowledge of metallurgy, so take this with a grain of salt.

I hope you enjoy working with Fat Man and the LM will take good care of you.
