91mm Black Nylon Scales
on: January 02, 2014, 02:33:54 PM
Does anyone know of a source for 91mm black nylon scales? (Except SwissBianco)!

I can get black cellidor scales from Austria for 3 Euros a set but the only source I've found for Nylon scales is SwissBianco & he's asking $12 + $17 shipping to the U.K. (I could buy a new knife for that).

I may be thought of as strange but I prefer the nylon scales to cellidor & I'm wanting to put them on a red scaled Fieldmaster I got off Santa!

Thanks,

Dave.

Nylon all the way!  If black nylon can be found for a fair price even better!
Lurking with a large collection of sharp knives!

I have bought mine art +B, too and it was not cheap, but they suit my Syph special BO Spartan soooo well!
You might ask Tim/Felinevet on EDC Source if he can source some black Nylon scales.

wow, I didn't even know black nylon was available.

Having said that though, with the range of wooden scales available, I would always go for that if not allox. TattooSteve made me a mod with African Blackwood scales that looked sweeeet!

...just received a pack of black RIT dye and am planning on testing it not on G-Shock parts, but on SAK parts tonight.

I don't see why; The Nylon scales outperform the Cellidor scales in every way.  They just don't look as pretty to some and they are not as flexible for printing on or inlays.  It's all esthetics, a real working SAK is Nylon or Alox... if you need style there is Horn, wood, and fancy stuff.  Nylon and Alox... those are the performers.

Thanks for all the replies.
I've just found some sites in Italy & Germany that may supply them.

Dave.

@lowtech,

Let me know how the Dyeing turns out. My attempt...not so well. The Toothpick took the pigment but the Tweezers and MiniD wouldn't. I used the powder form Rit Dye. Maybe I should try the liquid and not dilute it.

Good luck.

The toothpick goes black almost the minute it goes into the RIT.  The tweezers need a very long boiling.

I would also like a few more nylon scales but refuse to pay the inflated shipping price for these.  Someone needs to explain that these can be shipped first class tracked in US for 2.15usd!
