Black Alox versions: the list
on: January 04, 2014, 02:33:19 PM
I have developed an unhealthy liking to Black Alox colored SAK's. So in my quest I have made a list of every known black Alox SAK I could find. See it below. If any of you fellow connoisseurs are aware of errors, or missing info, please raise your voice.

Black Alox scales and black shields

58mm (Classic size)
LE black Classic
Regular black Minichamp (new)

84mm (Cadet size):
2 layer
Regular black Cadet (with keyring)
LE black Cadet (no keyring, comes with sheath)
LE Back Cadet Plus (50-numbered), with an added saw.

93mm (pioneer size):
1 layer
LE black Solo (South Africa only)
LR Confederation Helvetica Solo (50-numbered) - Color stated as dark blue in some references?
2 layers
Regular black Pioneer
LE Damascus Pioneer (2010 - numbered)
LR black pioneer (50-numbered) with "Schweiz, Suisse, Svizzera, Svizra" on the engraving plate
LR Confederatio Helvetica Pioneer (50-numbered)
LR Wilderness (100 - numbered)
LR First Mate US Navy(50-numbered)
*Pioneer stealth, with black oxide tools. Very little info on this one, possibly a custom
3 layers
LE black Farmer (Italy only)
LR black Farmer (65?-numbered)
LE black Midshipman (50-numbered)

There are also a few black Alox with other shield versions
Red colored shield:
LE black Bantam (Denmark only)
LR Pioneer (50-numbered)
LE Railway Soldier aka "the black beauty" (numbers not known?)
Old cross:
LE Route 66 Farmer - white old cross
LR black Rancher - black old cross (50-numbered)

You're forgetting the Danish black Cadet and Classic, I think...

Indeed! These 2 fall under the "Red colored shields" category. Thanks for spotting.

That's an impressive list, microbe!

Why exactly are you into BLACK alox?    :pok:

I guess I could pose myself the same question. I'm a SILVER alox fan. I just like the looks of it.    8)

Cheers Wilfried. The black does not specifically relates to Alox. Black Alox just falls under it.

The Companion definitely counts. Seems I did overlook the smooth Alox versions?
That means there are more to add?
Yep Wenger is a SAK. It counts.  :salute:

The Wenger Patriot in black is known in Europe as Wenger Eloxy 21. Nice slim SAK. :D

Also don't forget the Wenger Dynasty Series. http://www.sakwiki.com/ti...age=Wenger+Dynasty+Series

The black nylon Victorinox Bantam (Singapore Army special).

Do advertising knives count ? Last year I found a black Harvester (NIB) with a small laser etched advertising on the engraving plate on the backside.

Great find! Until now I was not aware of an existing black Harvester!

Unless on paper, the 2010 Black Damascus Pioneers are not numbered (not on any of the blades anyways). They do have "2010" engraved on the name plates however.

Great job on the list!  :tu:

Sorry - that was an assumption based on the 2013 Damascus Explorer, which is numbered. I don't have the 2010 Damascus Pioneer yet. But it is in the mail!  :)

There's the Wenger Watchmaker in smooth black. If you're getting into ad knives a number of Vicorinox Watch knives with ads for watches are in black.

Wenger Watchmaker (top) and an assortment of Wenger and Vic ad knives. The one on the left for Junghans is checkered.

I had both the black alox and green alox pioneers with black oxide tools from the limited 50 runs...had to let them go due to money troubles  gutted

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Cheers guys, got it for a great price, as it is damaged. The lanyard attachment is removed - and that cost the previous owned dearly.

That's the kind of "damage" (I mean, "mod") that I like.

Sounds you got a great deal there.

Can you tell that I do not like rings on Pioneers? :D

Hmm... don't take offense on the user question - to me too these high end SAKs beg to be used. Carefully, yes, but used. Of course, nothing bad to keep it as a shelf queen either, au contraire.

No offense taken, it is all fun and play here.  :drink: Enki - I don't mean to hit you at all, you are a great guy!
It will ride in a sheath at times. Currently I'm carrying the 2013 "Carl" I should post a pic of how those scale are looking after a few eeks of use, but I rather wait until they are completely dirty. Not that I am complaining on the scales, it looks great, stains and all!

:D

I expected a :twak: or a :megaslap: anyways. ;)

There's nothing wrong with carrying one. I think ICFT carries one occasionally too. And I'd consider the lack of keyring an improvement too. One of the reasons I prefer the Harvester to the Farmer. ;)

And I was actually going to ask you about how Carl was looking after some use when I saw the pics of it in your EDC thread. Looking forward to them.
