:D It's not cheap, but I could see it putting a big smile on my face every time I went to cut something!!

I've been thinking about building my own crosscut and 45 sleds, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I made a small crosscut sled, the biggest problem I had was set it to be REALLY square, because the hardware store squares aren't actually 100% square.  ::)

Hmmm, my brain can't seem to figure out how that works...

I took this today hope it makes more sense
The pointy end of the wedges could be cut back a bit as you tap that end with a hammer when you want to release the door

If you cut the slots and wedges right you can use them to hold fatter or thinner stock  ;)

I really like that!!  I have a bunch of wedges from doing tapered cuts, so all I need to do is notch our some 2x4's and I'm set!

The G/F wanted a garden table that she could use for potting up plants and be nice enough to use for entertaining but it had to be ‘rustic’

Well as you know rustic is my middle name  :D

My stock of rescued wood

and old fence posts

Finished it off today  :) and I got to use my new pencil (Thanks Crow  :tu:  )

Well, you can't really share them with the forum members, right     :P  :D

so be selfish - as you said having some food that is not burned (the sparky cooking method-flambe everything) will be a good change for you

Found this on youtube
This guy had a genius idea  :hatsoff:...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=af0jQ6O0Djs

Made this to hold Axe handles when working on them with a spoke shave

The extra holes in the sides are so the cam/wheel can be adjusted to take different sized stock
And there’s extra holes in the base for attaching it to other work surfaces   ;)

I might have to remake it as I split the top board when I put the screws in  :-\

I saw that one awhile back. My work ara is so small, that i had no use for it. But what you came up with, i might want to copy. Now that is useful. No springs attached?

No springs, the wheel/cam just hangs down, push the handle in as far as you want it then pull it towards you, it’s held firm

If you want to plane away from yourself, pull the wheel/cam towards you slide your work in then let the wheel/cam go and it’s locked in

You can’t really see in my pictures but there’s a big bolt at the back holding the jig down

I might give the wheel/cam a try on its own as in the video when I get a min

So I bought this for £20 inc a couple of tools
It was originally a 4 draw ‘chest of draws’ that someone had made into some workshop storage with three little draws on the right and added pair of doors  :tu:

Don’t look too bad, a bit tatty maybe

Old hardboard covered top

Original wood panel top

Clean and ready for new ply top

Turn it upside down, repair damage (garden rocks to add stability  ;) )

Replace bottom ‘skirting’ with cherry skirting

Replace top molding (lots of filler  )

And paint top with grey car primer
