Victorinox Hunter Pro
on: January 19, 2014, 06:11:00 PM
Just got a little bored earlier today and figured I would do some photographs of the Hunter Pro. Why did I throw in a Viking helmet and sword you may ask? I figured a Viking would appreciate the Hunter Pro.

Viking battle axe and Swiss (Elsener) dagger. Best of both worlds.

Nice sword and helmut BTW.  :tu:

I'm surprised that knife still exists.  I was quite surprised to see it featured at SHOT again this year.

The hunter pro was at SHOT? Did Vic have a booth?  I still look at my disassembled one with much loathing, but I have to get it back together with the alox scales one of these days.  I havent heard back from the US Vic rep since I told him I was doing that and they wanted to buy it from me.

Very underwhelming tool for a victorinox IMO, very disappointing effort.

My final views in those threads provided still represent my view. It's not a bad knife but...

It has no function, build, artistry, or price that provides a reason, let alone a compelling reason, for it's existence.

It was a failed experiment for sure.  The whole thing is just confusing to me.  Did they think the US market was so knife happy theyd buy this up without much thought?

Glad that you got a good copy and that you like it. But calling this thing beautiful and well made as far as it goes kind of asks to be reminded of those discussions. Sorry  :D

As far as it goes, the Hunter Pro is a beautiful and well made knife.

Your opinion of the knife seems to be improving.  "Beautiful and well made" is certainly more positive than "not that bad" and "Not exactly up to the standards of Victorinox".

That is quite possible Marius. I was expecting something awful. It turned out to be not that bad after all.

Syph007, what you say is quite true. Not exactly up to the standards of Victorinox all in all. Still a nice knife though.  :D

What? Am I not allowed to revise my opinion? Those were first impressions. I quite like this knife now after owning it for some time and using it.

Well you're also a collector and collect everything, so I think you pretty much like everything?  Or are their some tools, knives, MTs you dont like?

I was just pointing out that it had changed.  I wasn't trying to impose any restrictions.

It is important to know that your change of opinion was a result of use.

Have you done also a video of the Hunter Pro in action to see how it performs, since you still using it? It'll be interesting to see. :D

I see it might be time for me to move on once again. I am nobodies pet monkey. And if I am going to be attacked for my opinions because they don't reflect theirs...not a friendly place to be or to post.

EDIT: Sorry folks. Let me explain a few misconceptions here.

1. Just because one collects everything does not mean I like everything, In fact, I beleive that I have a clear opinion on what I like and dislike simply because I have a lot to choose from.

2. Just because someone collects does not mean they are not users.

3. Sorry I won't make a video just for you simply because I can't be bothered. That and I do photography...not videos.

4. I do stand by my decision to respect other people's views. What I will not stand for is when things get personal. Now I think I may be misreading a few...but when I see popcorn smileys...I see a troll.

5. Because there appears to be some dissention...watch the view count rise.  :D

I have no opinion on the knife, so neither agree nor disagree with your opinion.  I was interested in what your experience was that improved your opinion on it, however.  I think my posts might have been misconstrued and, if that's the case, I apologize.  I should have been more clear.

I was at the dealer's a few weeks ago and he mentioned that all Pro knives he got sold out really quickly.

When I mentioned that there were some questions about their overall quality he said that he did not know of any such problems.

He really wants more as he believes that there is a big market for them.

It seem that the experiment was successfull.

I guess there were quality issues with certain lots, which is very possible when mass production is done or when someone's having a bad day in quality control. It happens but i still say thanks to victorinox for trying something new.
