It’s interesting that the serrations have worn off on their own through use. That’s a win-win situation either way

These pictures were taken today. This "1908" from 1941 is one of my all time favourite SAK. The precision and quality is eye watering good - and/but the reason for it being a favourite is the condition.

It is just right for me - the tools and mechanism are in great shape, I do not believe the knife has been sharpened at all and the springs snap like a bear trap. The scales are good enough for my collection and wonky enough for being able to use it without a bad consciense. Heck - even how I got it was the best possible way - sold in a lot together with crap things and cheap (40 USD - but in Swedish Kronor). The description did not mention it at all and the auction went "under the radar". Love it!

Auction pic:

Cleaned it and gave it some oil.

WK mark double stamped... Maybe it was after a nice lunch...

Thanks everyone! One reason for the good condition has to be the leather pouch. I do not know how old it is but it has probably sheltered the knife for many, many years. It was dry and stiff but I softened it up with some natural content leather dressing and it "came to life" again.

Oh my goodness yes!  I think my Grilon Wenger is a '58.  What year is yours, @jnoxyd?

Thanks guys! That Grilons are really nice (and hard to polish btw compared to Cellidor ;) )

To Myron: This knife has a stamp 63, unfortunately I do not have a full set of 1957-1964 grillons. By the way, your 58 is the rarest of them

Alas, I just checked and mine's a 1961.  My '58 is a fiber-handled knife.  Also rare, but not like a Grilon.

I'm confused by the wood/grillion models with 61 and later date stamps.  They continued making those after the alox 61 was introduced?  Were they issued to troops after 61?

I have a Grillon from 1962, I think they may have gone another year before being phased out for alox, at work so name time to look at the wiki but time to post
