Looking at a new light...need some help

Ok, looking at another Fenix light. http://www.eliteled.com/products/flashlights/fenix-l1d-q5.html

If you have one of these, would it be possible for you to post up a beam shot at say 25 feet then one at maybe 25 yards?

Hi there Richard!

I don't have a Fenix L1D but I have L2D.

Why not get L2D with extra L1D body tube so you will have 2 in one flashlight. If you need a brighter light with more endurence you, have it, an L2D. For ordinary days EDC, just convert your L2D to L1D by changing the body tube.

I guess its just me. When I get a light, I just want one that remains the same. I have many lights, and I like good ones out of the box. Would drive me nuts to have "parts" laying around.

Richard, that is a great light! many really like it, I have an L1D/L2D via the extra tube
as Eddie mentioned but not a Q5 (it came out a month after I ordered dohh) but I'm
really happy with what I have. You won't go wrong if you get it sir

Richard, that's a twisty! (no clickie backswitch) will it be your first?
one reason I like twisty's is they won't wear out like a switch, the
problem is you have to keep the threads clean on many models
for better contact and ease of turning. now your gonna need lube/cleaner!

Its got momentary on, but as for twist-for-constant-on, I have a few of them. My Surefires and Inovas are like that.

The L1T v2.0 isn't a twisty though.  It has a forward clicky switch on it.  The high and low modes are selected by twisting the head.

I thought twisting the bezel/head or tail meant it was a twisty (connection being made by tube means)?
and a push in type switch was a clickie (connection being made by separate module)?

Yes, but that's only when you're talking about the on/off switch.  The on/off switch on the LxT v2.0 series lights are operated by a forward clickie switch in the separate tailcap module.  Only the mode (high/low) is switched by twisting the head.

The only twisties in the Fenix lineup are the E-series (AAA lights) and the P series (1xCR123).

Regardless, the threads on the head end of the body will have to be kept clean for proper operation.  The ground path is through those threads and can become intermittent with gunk buildup.  Gunk is a technical term, BTW.

Got the Fenix a few minutes ago in the  What a cool little light...and bright!!! Supposed to be 98 lumens, no way to check but it does seem very very bright. Can wait until tonight to go out and compare it to the rest!!!

You will want to use NiMH rechargeable or lithium batteries in that light if you have them.  An alkaline will deplete VERY quickly in high mode.

Will they put out the same brightness, or would there be a difference with different types of batteries?

alkies are brighter at first, then the curve goes down, but eneloops keep their brightness way longer
so they are better. Liths are brighter than both.
