#2 is on the way!
on: January 28, 2014, 02:07:55 AM
This time it's a boy!  Looks like I need to pick up a 14 soldier to match the year of the bunny I have for the little princess.

Is there anyway to put 14 retroactively on a sak blade?  Alternatively, did the 1914 soldiers have a 14 stamp?

Have you considered picking out something like a Harvester, Electrician or one of the red-scaled Pioneers maybe, and then have something like the year or his birthday laser etched or engraved on the tang?  You could even include his name on the blade itself!

#2 is now here. We weren't sure if he was going to be a snake or a horse, but it seems he wanted to be an Aquarius Snake!

I came here to find out what the cryptic title of your thread was all about.

Boy, year of the bunny... What the hell are you talking about?

Sorry first year with a date on the blade is 1921 , but I am sure there will be some 2014's out soon :)

Oh and Congratulations :)

Congrats on the new family member.

And yes, the new big 111mm Soldiers should be easier to obtain soon. Not like you're gonna give it to him in any time soon. :D

Papercut became a father for the 2nd time. Him being from Taiwan might explain the Horses bunnies and snakes. ;) I'm guessing the girl was born in 2011 (year of the rabbit->bunny) and as the Chinese New Years day is on the 31. of January the boy was still born in the year of he snake. Papercut is buying them two SAKs for their birth years. One Swiss Soldier with the tang stamp of the year of their birth and one of the Chinese zodiac knives.

Mazel tov. I'm sure any blade could be engraved with the year stamp on it, although a Soldier of the year would be the most authentic IMHO. I've been trying to get and keep things from my own birth year (83) as well as that of some of my family's birth years. I have a '05 Soldier ready to go for when my nephew graduates high school.
