Greetings and salutations from Illinois
on: January 30, 2014, 07:46:14 AM
So to introduce myself, long time lurker, new poster.  I actually got directed here from another forum that feeds my gear addictions, but have come to realize the core of my load has always been a multitool.

I am a Leatherman fan since my scouting days, and in fact still have my old PST sitting in my knife box.  I think I still have the sheath, too.  I've owned a couple of Gerbers, but from back before The Changeover in Manufacturing, and a few Swiss Army knives (Explorer I bought back in the 90s, and a Trekker).

By profession, I'm a cook.  And if you've never worked in a commercial kitchen, trust me when I say the three things you need working in that environment are a good chef knife, a good multitool and a box of bandaids.

Anyways, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

The world belongs to the funkiest.

I've worked in quite a few kitchens in my time as well and you are absolutely right about equipment!

Greetings and Welcome,  the PST is my favorite as well as the explorer.  I like Gerber but mostly the older Mr Pinchy, I recently got a MP400 and like it's size and weight.  Knife box huh? Whacha got in there?  I too worked in professional kitchens and agree the tools of the trade are as you mention.

welcome mate
Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob

Last count, there's four Spydercos, six Leatherman tools, a couple of random sheath knives, a couple of butterfly knives, my axe collection, my one remaining Victorinox, four Kershaws, and my work knives.  8 inch chef knife, 6 inch santoku, 4 inch santoku and a ceramic flensing knife.

The world belongs to the funkiest.

Looks like you have just the right forum.  The are several members who are regular users of axes as well as Spydie and Kershaw fans,
