What replaces what?

What would you get when you send a retired LM in for repair and is unrepairable? Just curious more than anything :D I know you would get a new Wave for an old one but past that I really don't know :think:

Just a guess mind you but this is what I think:

PST
PST II        ------>   KICK
SIDECLIP

PULSE   ------>   FUSE

SUPERTOOL
SUPERTOOL 200  -----> CORE

I'm not sure about the PST thing. I read about lots of people sending in broken ones and getting new PSTs back in there place.

In Australia at least you will never get a retired tool back. They do do some repairs here, but anything major and they just replace it, and send the busted one back to the US.

Busted tools didn't get sent back where i was stationed.
When broken tools storage was full, all tools where laid out & photographed, after which the pictures were sent to Leatherman as evidence that they were indeed broken, so our company would get a refund.
The tools themselves would then be officially destroyed.
Sending hundreds of pounds of steel back overseas was deemed unprofitable.

Well yes, but what you say is "Sent Back to the Manufacturer"

not

"We dumped them in the harbour" or "sold them for a few bucks to a ferrous scrap dealer" :angel:

I wonder if Leatherman would sell us some of those PSTs if we did a group buy?

With all of my instances you get a refurbished model of the tool you sent in.. I do know that under certain circumstances a PST is replaced with a Blast. I remember Shelee Kennedy telling me that.

I think a Kick for a Sideclip is somehow just not right. Sure the components are similar but i think i'd just repair it myself if i could.

Yeah for sure if I sent in a SideClip to be fixed I would put a note in there with BIG letters :D saying that if they can't fix it just send it back to me as is ;) :tu: that goes for most of my retired LM though :D
