Thanks for sharing RP. The new Tellus looks interesting. I like that they are trying something different with the plier jaw. The blade, saw, and scissors look good. Hopefully the file will actually cut.

Good to see they have come up with something new. Really appreciate that they are putting new ideas into design.

The piler does not slip into bigger opening combined with the fact that giving the gear design, it is destined to have a smaller opening than a real slip joint. But I'm sure some occation the curved shape jaw will help with a task.

I have a few nitpicks, like the thumbstud on the saw, but this is a step in the right direction. Tons of people carry the tiny Knipex Cobra. The angled pliers are very useful, and this has cutters too, and the compound leverage. And it looks good too.

I'm admittedly working with a small sample, but I have no complaints about the quality of my PowerLock. The Tellus looks to be an interesting design. Perhaps I'll give it a go one day.

I feel like SOG is similar to Gerber. They were good, they dipped, and they've recovered. All my SOGs have been made in the last 5 years, and none have given me any problems. I'm not a hardcore tool torturer, but they've fixed things around the house, survived drops from decent heights, etc. with no issues.

I bought one, and it's unfortunately a fail. It uses tools very similar to the Power Play, and it suffers from the same major flaw as the Power Play - a terrible, unusable Phillips screwdriver. It literally doesn't fit into any screws in my house or garage - #1, #2, or #3. It's complete garbage. It's actually worse than the Power Play's screwdriver, which I didn't think was possible. It's a stark comparison to the Switchplier I have, which sports a spectacular phillips driver.

The second thing is, they tout this as a camping tool, but it doesn't have a pocket clip. It's got a small form factor, it's lightweight, and the sides are flat. I have no idea why they didn't add what I consider the most necessary part of a multitool - if I can't carry it easily, I won't carry it. Can't stand pouches.

Third is the jaws are spring loaded. When I flip it open the spring flips it halfway back. The spring starts engaging when the handle splay is way too wide to comfortably grab the other handle.

Fourth, the locks are just as difficult to disengage as the PowerPlay.  In fact, it really looks like a modern take on the Power Play... with all the same flaws.


One redeeming quality is it does fit perfectly into the Power Play's plastic sheath, which can be worn inside a pocket (It's bulky but doable).
