Nice pics everybody!
Okay, one more.My case mini single blade wharncliffe trapper-(Image removed from quote.)
What is a trapper? According to Wikipedia :"The trapper is larger knife with a clip and a spey blade. The blades are usually hinged at the same end."Yes, in theory.. Trappers, the way I see them, are two bladed, hinged at the same end, metal bolsters at both ends, with a curvy and thicker bolster on one end and a squareish one at the pivot end. They will look like a combination of a canoe and a straight jack and are really jack knives, related to Barlows and peanuts (mini trappers). They should have a drop point blade and a spey blade (for castrating and buttering toast, hopefully not without some cleaning in between), though some are made with a smaller spear blade (and why would a trapper need to castrate an animal ).They are common, tough, working knives, that were supposedly used by farmers to castrate animals.I thought, for some reason, that a trapper would be a good knife for me and have bought a few but only really use one.Well, here are some of mine:In order of size:(Image removed from quote.)All have two springs, liners and similar "look"and they are, from the top:Buck Creek, sort of German made, decent, good Stag, some blade rubbing, shiny blades, OK if you can get a bargain.German Bull, made by the same company, good finish, nice bone, shiny blades, OK if you can get a bargain.Case G10, nicely polished springs, good finish BUT some the blade centering is not good. Also, the grinds were a bit weird. Looks sexy as ...... and I like it Rough rider, all metal, heavy, nice scrolls, very unusual and expensive/antique looking, smooth enough not the best blade centering (if they can get one blade OK, they should be able to get both!)Rough rider Stoneworx model, a premium range with polished blades and springs. The blades are fine and it looks nice or cheap, depending on what you like, There is a grinding noise/feel in one blade but I have not cleaned it. Buy if you need something distinct or if you are a rapper... It looks too fragile to me for some reason..Boker plus. I had two, the spring broke on one for no apparent reason, I emailed Boker and never got a reply so I never bought any of their products again. They need me more than I need them. Looks fine but I do not trust the product anymore.Queen 51, mini trapper, the only one with a non SS blade (D2). Polished springs, half stops, small spear blade, Derlin, made by the old Queen, the best walk and talk of all here; a bargain if you can find it and one of my regular users. Buy one, NOW.Steel warrior, one of the better, older, Frost products, half stops, tested for hardness, very good walk and talk, not exactly a trapper; described a s a saddlehorn. Cheap in the good way, as are all Steel warrior products. People seem to want to buy the other, more well known, Frost brands but Steel Warrior is the one they should be buying.New Schrade, vague half stops, cheap in the bad way but the new ones are supposed to be better. Its not that bad, but there are are better options for similar money.Camillus USA (not the Les ones), half stops, good for its age, decent bone, no gaps but slight blade play.(Image removed from quote.)From the top:(Image removed from quote.)In order of price (from what I remember)(Image removed from quote.)Blades:(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)Fancy:(Image removed from quote.)Plain:(Image removed from quote.)Similar knives with different names/look:A Jack with a small trapper(Image removed from quote.)A GEC trapper with a common trapper..(Image removed from quote.)And some similar links:Stockmanshttp://forum.multitool.org/index.php?topic=49987.0Staghttp://forum.multitool.or...35943.msg578950#msg578950Sodbustershttp://forum.multitool.or...79710;topicseen#msg679710Have fun posting more

I like the boxes they come.in almost as good as the knives
And mail came early today! (Image removed from quote.)I couldn't get a pic that really showed the color properly. It looks less yellow in person.
