Those flux capacitors can be a real bear on Dodges!!

It's true, with all the electronic crap in our rigs, they are pretty voltage sensitive.  Doing the jump is a nice easy way to check.

I'd say check battery first, and also these:
Fuel pump
Fuel filter
Crankshaft Position Sensor
Ignition switch

You should be able to check you fuel pressure at the rail too.

Have a read here too, sounds similar to your problems. http://www.dakota-durango.com/forum/showthread.php?t=143640

I pulled my battery out and took it to Sam's to test and they said it was fried, no cca's registered on the meter.  Picked up a new one, installed it and varoom!  It took right off like it used to!

Thx. all for the comments/suggestions!  And a special thanks goes out to God for making it 40 degrees and sunny today!  That helped with the battery issue immensely!  LOL

Let me add the voice of experience...

Watch closely how this battery does.  If it goes bad in a short period of time (ie 1-2 years) it may still be the alternator not sensing correctly and charging the battery incorrectly.

Unfortunately, I dont think I will have it that long!  I am planning on selling it now/spring as my insurance for three vehicles is killing me and I still have a nice big snow thrower!  I am also thinking about getting a 4x4 small tractor!

I will note that in the Dodge file just in case! :D

Thx.
Mike

I have a Silverado with the same issue. Not sure if it'll be the same problem. It has 'side' mount battery connections. When it starts doing this.. I go out and tighten the connections and it solves the problem.

This ^

I would be checking it right now (and I mean next time you start it up, not next week).  If the alternator is over or under-charging the battery you will very quickly damage your nice new (expensive) battery, and it really puts off a potential buyer when a vehicle that is supposedly "ready for sale" won't start.

GM's side posts are the worst thing ever. Can't tell you how many times Ive had the things come loose.

Just fired it up again a few minutes ago and it started just fine.  My wife came home and said there was a speed bump in the drive cause the county plow must have been by so I mowed it down with my plow! :)

 :tu:

We had a tractor doing similar weird things recently, that one is normally a 12V electrical system but is a 24V start (big agricultural engines are a bit weird like that).
When it turned over it sounded really sprightly and like everything was fine but just wouldn't go. Tested the batteries and the one that supplies the 12V loads was dead (it had done 13 years) so we think wasn't giving enough volts to one of the ECU, stop solenoid or fuel pump so fuel wasn't getting to the engine. New batteries and she's firing up straight away again. With the tell tale plume that she seems to be running on coal.
