Blade regrinds
on: April 30, 2018, 04:38:29 AM
I recently acquired my first GEC knife, a beautiful tidioute #66 Calf roper in gabon ebony. It is pretty much everything you could ask for in a traditional knife except for one thing: the way the blades are ground leaves them pretty thick and obtuse at the tip. I tried sharpening it and, well, lets just say it didn't end well... has anyone reground any of their blades to correct for this? or would anyone be willing to regrind mine?

Here you can see my botched sharpening job

That blade doesn't look like it needs a full regrinding.  I would use some high quality metal files to reprofile the cutting edge to a steeper angle(mainly the tip), then try sharpening it starting with a rough grit and finishing at a high grit. :)
