This just came in yesterday. According to Greg's comparison post this appears to be a 7c variation with old style handles with shoulders, old style awl, and a two sided Simonds USA file. The seller's description claimed it was new old stock, but it's a bit loose and did not come with a sheath. I was hoping for one of the brown leather sheaths. I'm not going to send it back anyway, even if the seller may have over stated the condition in the description. My problem now is that I hadn't realized there were different variations of the MPT before opening this thread, and now that I know about them, well, you know.
Now, I must say, I don't know much about MPTs. I have three, but have yet to research them. Is an "MPT #5" a specific variant of the MPT? Or can anyone with MPTs post here? Two of mine are mint (with dry factory oil) with leather sheaths. One BO and one SS.Then I have one I use occasionally. The mass hotspots and extreme splay make it one of the most difficult tools to use in my opinion. But, it sure is pretty!
Good MPT's! they are not the most user friendly tool but they served there purpose at the time. Here is some MPT info!
